Just wondering but are you filling the tank up properly. I know it sounds stupid but are you actually checking you are getting the correct amount of litres in the tank. The tank is 45L but on average you will get 32L in to the first click on the petrol pump.

Maybe you are stopping too soon because you hear it click - possibly because your fuel tank breather valve is clogged or not working correctly and not allowing the fuel to go down the pipe.

I don't know about your fuel gauge (because I have a 77tsi) but 20L will show my tank as full on the dial but as soon as I do 10km its down a bar. On top of that if I fill it up all the way to the max, I can do about 300km without it going down a single bar

mmmm, okay - will look into it and get it checked out in the next month or so...and yeah - I check how much I fill up; definitely usually get 40L in when I have an empty gauge

I'm pretty sure you can but I'm not sure what the octane rating for the fuel is. If its 98ron equivalent then your fine...if not its really bad for your engine (ethanol blended fuel been bad for engines anyway so either way you loose really).

Definitely not. Shell E10 is only 91RON. BP is 91+ whatever that is. Caltex wont tell you what theirs is.

            Warranty voider for sure.

Yeah dont use E10, place i used to work ran our yammaha outboards on them for a few months, 5 out of 9 shat it, with all fuel injection and fuel line problems. From what i have heard, if you can stay clear of it.

98 Premium is at $1.34 per litre...why would anyone think of using E10?!?!?!

If so...might as well refill the car with avgas every single fill then

                  Fuel

Avgas is a leaded fuel though.
Maybe I could fill the diesel with some Jet fuel...

                      Fuel

I didn't know what E10 was and last time I saw when the newest SAABs came out they were bioFuel and thought new cars can run on E10? But don't know...

new cars that can run on regular 91 unleaded should also be OK to use e10. (run my mitsubishi and ****box ford on it) The turbo VWs are premium fuel only.

Re my previous comment about caltex, the rating for their E10 is not on the website but I filled up there tonight, it is written on the pump 91.

The RON is not the only thing that you need to consider when selecting a fuel.

Ethanol has roughly 30% less calorific value than petrol. Because it is a 10% blend, this is a 3% reduction in the energy available.

More important is that ethanol burns lean. When the ethanol combusts. the oxygen atoms in ethanol are released and this causes the mixture to be lean. From an emission point of view, it reduces unburnt HC and CO/CO2, but more than triples NOx because of high combustion temperatures from running lean.

Overall, you will see roughly 10% increase in fuel consumption. This can be reduced just a little by re-tuning the engine, however if you are unable to get E10 (only available in capital cities and major regional centres), your engine will then run rich.

The oil companies are pushing E10 in NSW, because there is a government mandated 6% substitution of petrol with a bio-fuel. If oil companies do not sell 6% bio-fuel, they are subject to fines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. When you look at the current split of SULP / PULP, and E10, this lets them meet the 6% substitution. If it looks like the 6% substitution is not going to be met, then oil companies will artificially drop the price of E10, or even get service stations to shut down their PULP pumps thereby forcing users to buy E10.

So, it is not the RON, or any potentially corrosive effects of ethanol. or that ethanol will absorb water from the atmosphere. There are a whole lot of other issues in using ethanol blended fuels.
