What would your next car be after the Polo GTI?

Looking for a MK4 R32 as the next car after the 6R GTI... a downgrade, but I'm missing the stick.

Personally i feel the octavia is more unique. In a way I picked the Polo GTI over the Mk6 Golf GTI because it was cheaper and offered the same performance and infotainment options (same bt, mdi, mfd, and you could you could upgrade it to the rns510). It was the thinking mans GTI, if you will.

The Octavia appeals to me much in the same way, its $4,500 cheaper than the Golf, standard Xenons, has better space and infotainment, and I like the rarity and cool options it has. All with the same drive train as the GTI. That said the GTI has a sportier ride, adjustable suspension and is more readily available at the moment.

That's more or less why I bought the Polo GTI too. Why pay over $10k more for similar if not the same performance? The Skoda ap-peals in the same way, but they weren't out when I bought my GTI and to be honest, I'm pretty happy with my choice!

I was gunning for either a MK4 or a MK5 R32, the missus has a MK5 GT and I was totally buying into the amount of space it gets and the general fit ... I would be more keen on the MK7 you have but that's way out of our price range here in NZ the MK6s here are all DSGs; the manuals are rare hence ++$

Have a base fiat 500 rental car in America right now and maybe it's just the north american build but I'm not impressed. Space inside is fine for me but the steering feels really vague and floaty and oh god the engine. The American model has this NA 1.4L engine that coupled with the auto transmission is so insanely gutless and laggy and it sounds terrible to boot.

will be my next car hands down. that or the STI. drove one the other day and after being a subaru only guy prior to getting my GTI i am definitely going back to one.

For me either another polo gti or mark 6 gti.its true each time I drive the car to the hills,I forget most of the trivial issues surrounding the polo gti.

Sure do, isn't fantastic, but I have been sitting in lots of awful traffic etc lately which hasn't helped.

I don't know what I'd go for next. The Interiors still put me off the WRX's though. But I've also considered everything from an Evoque to a 3 series so my tastes in cars are all over the place of late!

I ordered the new RS Combi, all the specs including Tech Pack, Adaptive Cruise, Bi-Xenon headlamps with swivel, glass sunroof, keyless start and entry etc Everything except leather seats. You name it I got it!

Pick it up in September.

I think there's a correlation between Polo GTI owners and a desire for the Octavia RS. I think a lot of us bought the 6R GTI because it offered 90% of the performance of the Golf GTI in a much cheaper package. Similarly, the Octavia RS is a bargain version of the GTI.

I really must get to a Skoda dealership and drive the RS, to see just how close to the GTI's dynamics it is.

MK7 Golf Pro’s
• It’s the new model
• Improved over the old GTI
• Such a nice interior
• New model
MK7 Golf Con’s
• Styling a little bland
• Expensive (for me)
• THAT 5.8” screen...

MK6 R Pro’s
• Fasssst!
• Good looks (Best looking mk6)
• All wheel drive
MK6 R Con’s
• Already a generation old
• Expensive for a car that is already superceded.
• Used

Scirocco R Pro’s
• Sexier than the Golf
• Same R engine
• Exclusivity
Scirocco R Cons
• In Europe, it’s already 7 years old

Basically I preferred the GTI and found one for a good price. The Octavia RS was still a month away from release so I didn't get a chance to test drive it, despite my bizarre love for wagons.

I'm not so sure that Newness is a pro, however.
I broke my own rule to never buy the first iteration of a car when I bought my Polo GTI, and boy, have I been stung!
I agree, it is SO tempting, though!

Another pro of buying 2nd hand : less time to wait for the car's warranty to expire, and then it's bring on the mods! (But, of course, the price you pay is
.. Less warranty!)
