Strange... My seats don't make noises, the car locks immediately with one push of the button and my dash is squeak free.
Must be something to do with the MY 12.5
aren't you 14? or should i be dobbing you in for underage driving

Yes I'm 14, but the only time I drive it is in the driveway on our property (feeding horses, goats etc.) which I'd guess is about 750m long. Boring, maybe. But I've mastered hill starts in a manual that's for sure
(Oh, and the reason I know it doesn't squeak, rattle or lock properly is because if it did mum or my sister would go straight to me first to look at it, and I'm also a passenger in that car quite a lot also)
I've also found after closing the drivers door after parking, then opening up the boot then closing, allows you to lock first time.
Ah!! That is it! I could never figure out why it would sometimes close first press and other times it needed two presses. You are quite correct. I've just tested this today and can confirm it is the same with me. This "issue" even had the salesman baffled at the handover (though with due respect to the delaership, the salesman who handed the car over to me was not as classy or seemingly knowledgeable bloke as the one who sold it to me - the latter had gone on holiday).
All that said, it is just a minor annoyance. If I were to find out for example, that the "fix" for this involved pulling out trim and replacing mechatronics inside the car, I would pass on it since I reckon that would risk causing far more problems than it would solve. But if is a simple software-only update, that is different (and fine of course).
I have the locking problem too so not something they have addressed with MY13 cars.
I've also got a few minor rattles and squeaks inside which may be from the seats but could equally be trim. It's very noticeable when I am backing out of my driveway over the high lip and the chassis is flexing but not too bad most of the time unless very uneven road surface.

@Polo_GTI: Yes, I get the "Check Deadlock!" message when I turn off ignition. But, from what I know, the Golf VI has the same locking system as the current Polo (correct me if I'm wrong), but it doesn't have that issue.
@JonP01: I agree with you that it's more of a minor inconvenience and definitely not worth gettin the dash pulled out for!
@fastlane: It was definitely the passenger service centre. Looks like we had the same courtesy car then Black Golf VI, 2.0 TDI with Bluemotion?
Anyway, just got an appointment with Burwin VW for end of February. The service guy said that they don't know exactly what's wrong with the seats at the moment but that they'll try to rectify it.
Also, there is currently no software update that would take care of the locking issue

Hahahaha I tell you the funniest thing, when I and the other boys were at the catchup at Frozey we decided to go to get some ice cream and upon locking the cars...not a single one worked!! We were all pressing our buttons and it was doing nothing for all 5 cars.
I think it had something to do with too many polos in the same area running on the same frequency. If we did it 1 by 1 they worked first press but pressing them all at the same time together didn't work.
3) STRANGE SQUEAK/RUBBING NOISE FROM BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX, MAINLY ON TAKE-OFF
For a few thousand kms now, but mainly since the weather got warmer, I have this strange noise coming from behind the glove box that sounds as if rubber was rubbing against something, or as if something was being overstretched. It comes at any take-off, at the beginning of the drive and at traffic lights. I even heard it sometimes when driving over some mild road irregularities. Burwin VW had a look and confirmed that it's coming from behind the glove box. However, since they were busy replacing my seats, they ran out of time to check it properly. They said it might be right behind the glove box, which would be an easy fix, but if not, then they would have to literally remove the entire dash - which I'd never have them do since that would probably introduce 5 new rattles. Did/does anyone else have this problem?
ATTEMPTED FIX: Nothing yet.
Thanks in advance for any input!
Cheers,
Martin
When you go to the dealership next regarding the above rattle in the left hand side of the dash - get the SOUND AKTUATOR fixed. By fixed I mean disconnect it and get it reconnected.
I had my issed solved by telling the service people them to "DISCONNECT THE SOUND AKTUATOR" in the dash due to a rattle. It's made the engine noise in the cabin much more quiet which is good and the rattle has gone. If you just tell them you hear a rattle then like they did, the issue wasn't fixed.
@MJKooLio:
Thanks, but I have already removed the sound actuator. I didn't like the artificial growling of the engine, it actually made it hard at times to hold a conversation.
