  • Where is a good place to bed in brakes in Melbourne (surrounding area)

    Hi people
Please can someone PM me the location of a nice place to bed in my brakes in Melbourne
I have been given a full book on how to bed them in from the manufacturer, so the how is not the problem, it’s the where to do it, I need a place where I can go 100 KM to 30KM with a 60 % to 80 % brake force without stopping a number of times.
Anyone have ideas? Or should I just pick a highway at night and do it then?
officer i promise its a stock car.... look my windows are not even tinted.

I have never actually heard of anyone doing this specifically....
Just drive it calmly and normally I reckon...

That's an old technique to bed in race pads
I would be mildly concerned about how suitable the pads are for the street
But yeah - motorway at 1am works good - actually, at 1am you can do that on nearly any back street
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

thanks for the replys and thanks for the concern

Im not one to get in to a chat about if they right or not for the road, i dont have that type of knowledge,

All i know is the manufacturer said they perfect for road and a few people i talked to that use them say The pads and disks sorted out there braking issues for a good price. ( 6 warped Disks before they changed )

The Manufacturer said if i want to track the car with full slicks i will need the next pad up but the manufacturer assured me the pads i have coming are still street once. best running temp 0 to 620 dg's , and the disks have temperature paint to see what its running at. ( i though that was quite clever)

once i have them on the car and all that we can see whats what...

This is why people end up with "warped' discs from incorrect deposition of pad compounds on the discs.

Nivlac, to give oyu an idea, my stopping distance (logged with MoTec just after getting the car) decreased by 5m after doing a proper bed in with the new pads I fitted to the car on the stock rotors.

PM sent with my personal bed-in location.

theres 2 sides to this discussion, but from all my previous experience, with different cars (holdens, honda's, toyota's etc) ive never bed in new brakes, and everything been fine

i wouldnt bother. just drive as normal.
