  • gti pre delivery requests

Hey guys I am expecting my gti around this time next month. I am kinda fussy when it comes to cars and was wondering if the list of pre delivery requests I have are within reason and if there is anything I should be aware of.

    Want to get vw to:
*book the car in 3-4 days after delivery for a oil drop.
*Have the latest dsg and engine updates installed.
*have the new breather pipe installed
*have them fiddle with the codes to have my galaxy s3 bury 9 system ready to go.

Are these reasonable requests and am I missing anything?

This is my first time dealing with a new car so I am in unfamiliar territory.

*book the car in 3-4 days after delivery for a oil drop. - no need, im sure they will refuse this
*have them fiddle with the codes to have my galaxy s3 bury 9 system ready to go - out of their scope, its up to you to pair your own devices

Why drop the oil after 3-4 days? How many km are you planing to do in 4 days? Most manufactures don't have the intial service any more, and even if they did its more like 3 months or 3000km.

I was under the assumption that to remove the vw Bluetooth screen adapter and to get the Bluetooth working with a phone specific dock that some code changes needed to be done.

If I am paying to drop the oil why would they refuse this? I develop engines for a living and it's only going to take me a few days to run the engine in. And I like to do this from experience.

You can talk to the dealer about the coding, but it's a buckshot when it comes to whether or not a dealer will do it. Some are too scared to change anything, and some are fine with it. If you have the unit with you, then you can show them it not working/working before and after though.

I looked, but can't find it. There's a really good list of pre-delivery checks to make - from checking there aren't suspension blocks in place, to making sure fluid levels look ok and door seals aren't bent.

Worth looking for if others don't have it handy to link to.

so in that case you would know how to change oil ??

change it yourself , why pay the dealer to do it?

Don't want to touch it to be honest. If anything ever happens to the car they can't slap me with any tampering of anysort. Can never be too safe. Unless of course it won't effect anything to do with the warranty.

Never had a 100% brand new car nor new car warranty, I am completely in the dark to how fanatical they are with self servicing.

the vw's are factory run in, but, its your car, your money, so they shouldnt refuse.

They would have no idea if you dropped the oil and changed the filter providing you use what vw recommend to do it.

VW say leave the oil in for 15,000km/12 months unless your driving meets the "extreme conditions" list in the manual. That will be their company line.
I can understand some people wanting to do an early change. Oil changes can be done by "any suitably qualified person" (VW's words), so if you fit that description the n DIY or go to an independent VW specialist. Don't get the book stamped. Use 504.00/507.00 oil & an OEM filter.

Personally, I left mine in for 15,000km & the engine is a pearl. Yes, I'm a suitably qualified person.
