    Hi Michael,
I've honestly found the suspension setting perfect for me so have not touch that. I've only altered the performance via the DNA tweak and I think I paid mid $600s for it. Don't know what John charges now, but anything sub $800 on a newish Polo would be worth it in my opinion. There is vast difference in creature comforts and driver innovations inside a 6R polo with comfort pack, compared to an older gen Golf.

It's not a GTi but its not trying to be. It's simply a more refined and responsive 77kw.

I'm not trying to sound superior by being a GTI owner, I'm just saying that the stretch to make a 77tsi closer to GTI performance, he could probably pick up an ex demo or low km 2nd hand GTI.
I second what gave said. The TSI is great especially with the tune and some decent coilovers but the amount of money it would take to get the power of the GTI out of the 1.2 would not be worth it

after reading quite a few threads on the dna tune for the 1.2 polo tsi, every comment seems to be quite positive

order of mods for me at the moment is (1) tints, (2) lower the rear because its so damn high at the moment and (3) get the dna tune

would still be interested in getting a quick spin in one if a melbourne owner is willing

Just picked up the 77TSI and yes first gear take-off is a bit underwhelming.

Might be interested in getting the DNA tune but how easy is it to do on a MY13?

from what ive read, there are several differnt ecu's on the market, only way to find out is to for dna to plug in and see if yours is compatible or not

When i got mine done not to long ago, John was saying that around June
2011 the polos where getting shipped with a revised version of the ECU that they havn't cracked yet.
best way to find out though would be to contact him directly.
awesome guy to deal with and very helpful.

You would need a DSG firmware update to fix that - not sure that an ECU tune would do the trick (?)

It's not the DSG, my manual 77 does it too. Feels like it is boost-limited in first, so much so that I normally only bother revving it to about 2,000rpm or a bit more then slot second and whey-hey, welcome back boost! I'm hoping the DNA tune erases this standard "feature". Will find out shortly.

seems that all manual 77 tsi's are like this

i too dont bother revving out 1st gear, as it does absolutely nothing.

1st is literally to take off, and almost immediately into 2nd

i know that in the mazda 3 mps, they limited boost in 1st gear to reduce wheel spin, maybe vw did something similar to the polo

anyone with a boost gauge in their polo could find out

unfortunatly the DNA tune doesn't fix this problem. would be nice if it did though

Doubtfully mate, the gti doesn't have this feature and there is no way the 77tsi can induce more wheel spin

Yeah I'm with gavs on this, I have a stuffed mechatronics unit and it doesn't do this, if I put my foot down it goes but it depends how you do it.

If I have my foot on the brake and then accelerate (lifting of the brake just at take off) I will take off with smoke revving to 6k. If I take my foot off the brake, wait a sec for the clutch to bite and then accelerate it will change to second quickly for a smooth and quiet change, so really you need to give your intention to the gearbox right from the get go.

This is in drive through, in sport it will allways rev out every gear regardless of throttle position, it just continues to hold it.
