  • Console stowage with light?

My manual (page 138, fig 91) describes the stowage compartment forward of the 12v socket and cup holders as...

"There is an open stowage compartment with lighting in the front centre console"

No lighting in my MY12.5 GTI. Anyone else?

Light comes on with the headlights. Should be a red-ring around the 12v socket, and a clear panel at the back that shines the same light into that area.
If you put the headlights on and still don't see anything, see if you have any current to the 12v socket. Could be a fuse?

Edit: You're only going to see this in a semi-dark environment. I saw it in my garage, but not in the street on a very overcast day.

Yeah, stick your hand in there with the headlights on.

        Thanks for replies.

Don't know how I missed that - I think I was expecting light from above.

Now, on with my search for a suitable coin spot!

(Yes, I know I can fit half a dozen in the glove box lid)

I've stuffed a stubbie holder in one of the cup holders for my coins

Inside the arm rest is a good spot. It has a smooth lining so they don't rattle and clink

That's where I currently have them.. in the little sunken area to the back of the armrest. Not many can fit there though
