Yep, that was me. As stated before. It does appear to be very optimistic stock reading at the wheels. But there are quite a few with similar readings in South Africa, in different parts of the country. SA Car magazine themselves did a test to prove how the power at the wheels match that of a Clio RS, meaning the DSG is miles ahead of the box on the Clio regarding drivetrain loss. That coupled with VW possibly underquoting power.

Either way, VW updated my DSG and ECU in the week. something to do with improved gear changes and such.

      Here my graph btw

Just out of curiosity Guy, what would you expect an APR stage 1 GTI (no other mods, yet haha) to make at the wheels? I know the website states 149kw but is this at the hub or wheels?

It depends, take it to twenty different dyno's & you will get twenty different figures.

You should always look at before and after delta's (difference) & the shape of the power curve of stock vs modified. Always reference it to intake temps (after intercooler) as this has a huge bearing on the outputs.

Yes and please accept my apology with me being such a sceptic because 10-15% drivetrain loss is very efficient.

Could you please do me a favour and see if you could please ask other 6R GTI owners that you mentioned to share their dyno graphs also and pass them onto me? Believe me when I say that is not for my personal use, it will hopefully be for the benefit of us all...

No worries mate. Im going to get a few . Some at sealevel, some at altitude.

What is very interesting, is that in South Africa, many tuners do not get good gains. other than APR, REVO, and one or two others. what they often do is a dyno run, and end up with about 132atw. initial instincts are that its a great gain. until they compare it to stock.
However, those running REVO P2 gets closer to 140atw.

A mate i know ran a 132wkw with only a DP. DP gives between 6-10kw iirc. Definately an interesting thing.

PS. there are 3 REVO Polo Gti's in South africa, running SW& DP. Crazy quick little cars:
              Yash_b 13.97
              Marlin 13.91
              Sugen 13.8x

Hey Gavs, as requested, here are a few graphs and tests in South Africa. Each one taken at a different Dyno

                1) Wheel Power, Stock. At altitude

                2) Topcar Magazine Test. AtSea Level
This is how they explained that even though the quoted power of the Polo is way down, it managed to out accelerate the Clio

                3) At altitude
A before and After. Here you will notice minimal gains. If i recall correctly, it was P1 settings. On P2 it was way better.

                4) 2 stock GTi's at a dyno event. Well, the register claims stock.

170kw from the Polo is just utter madness! Poor Gearbox

170kw is nothing, there are examples pushing up to 190kw. And the gearbox is fine, it's the clutches that are the weak point.

The above graphs however are in horsepower. They are stock cars except for one that has a downpipe and Cai fitted.

I can't believe no one has made custom manifolds for the polo yet. Why has no one gone through with a turbo upgrade? Is there issues with the 1.4tsi that we're not being told about when going a bigger turbo? Seems like every one who has begun upgrades never finishes the project but there's never a real explanation as to why.
