I wish my Caddy had a leaf catcher like that. I have to spend wuite a bit of time with a vacuum cleaner and a garden hose extension to suck the mongrels out of the spaces there.
From the picture, it looks like it is part of the plastic moulding.
looks the same as the golf's,
just take the windscreen wipers off completely, then start prying up from one side of windscreen across to the other side, will be hard to start of but gets easier the further you pull it off.

1. Use a suitable small pocket screwdriver to pop up the caps over the nuts for the wiper arms - there are small cutout dents where the best position is to pop them out.
2. Remove the nuts on both arms and wiggle the arms gently back and forth in an up and down motion to help pop them off.
3. Once both wiper arms are free, the tray is held in two ways; firstly, it's held in at the bottom of the windscreen in a clip-in notch all the way along and secondly it's held in by the rubber stripping. Carefully remove the foam holders either side of the tray and then you can remove the large strip of rubber which frees up the front of the tray.
4. Finally, gently (starting from the left) unclip the tray carefully out of the channel it's sitting in on the bottom of the window glass. As you gently lift it up and it goes along, it may feel quite firm and tight. Be gentle but persistent, it will pop out. Don
t be startled if it suddenly all pops out of the channel as it's done that a few times in my experience.
Tada. You now have the cover free and can do whatever you need to in the bay area. I personally recommend pissing off that stupid Sound Actuator.
if you just want to get in underneath to remove dirt or get to the strut tops, just take the rubber seal off & you can get in without removing wiper arms.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

Nah brad I'm getting coilover in tomorrow and need to remove it to get to the top mounts.
In order;

Thanks mythik, huge help. Not much online about it. I actually like the Sound Actuator lol. It was too quiet for me without.
I put konis in a 2012 Polo a few weeks back & got in without removing the wiper arms. Just removed the rubber seal & did keyhole surgery.
You're a lucky man! I've seen a lot of weather trays snapped around the windscreen without the owners noticing (look at the edges where it clips into the windscreen channel) due to this type of approach.

No luck involved. Hands of a surgeon.
Did my apprenticeship on Mini Minors, Series 1,2&3 Land Rovers & Nubian Fire Engines so these German cars feel quite roomy when you get the spanners out.
