  • Who has an upgraded Intercooler here?

Just wondering who has upgraded their intercooler and what way did you go (custom or other)?
Has it made a noticable difference in day to day driving? I've found the GTI tends to feel a little down on power if driving around in traffic for a while which suggests it would really benifit some better cooling.

Purchased the Audi S3 intercooler from ECS Tuning - just haven't installed it yet.

A couple of others have gone this way, just need a couple of new blots and hose clamps and then it remains fairly OEM. Purchased it to reduce power loss during summer. (I've heard that VW fit it to the high-end Golf's in South Africa since it's hotter there).

Polo being slimmer might not fit the Audi one though....
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

It won't, the entire front of the vehicle and carrier setup is different. No chance of an S3 cooler fitting.

A few Europe based guys are running a few different ones, I know one guy in Singapore is looking at running the HG motorsport cooler. Guys in the uk all seem to copy each other so they're mostly running the dual upgraded cooler and radiator combo from Pace Products. Forge also do one as well as Harding Performance.

There will be others out there too, you just hav to look

I do have an uprated FMIC (9.2 lts) on the car. It helped tremendously with heat soaking, especially in the hot Greek weather.

        here are some picies

        before (stock)

        After (uprated)

No point in replacing the RAD as water temps never have exceeded 90-92C (this is excellent when VRXs go over 105C). The water RAD is huge anyway.

This is a must for remapped cars since the stock one heat soaks (over 90c) even with external temps of 10c after two-three runs.
A fairly easy instal without cutting or screwing up anything in the car. Could go back to stock in 2 hours if needed
