  • Oil Filter Location

    Hi,

Could someone describe where the oil filter is located on the MY12.5 Volkswagen Polo? How do I access it?

    Cheers

    Joe.

    Hey Joe,

    What engine are you running?

I haven't worked on any polos yet so maybe someone else could verify. But i believe on the 1.6 it will be on the front facing of the engine, facing downwards to the ground. On the 1.4 it should be on the front left of the engine, above the alternator, it is on the audi a1 with the 1.4 anyway. And the 1.2 is in that spot previously described but it will be a paper element filter so will have a black plastic cover on it.

    Hope that helps.

        All good buddy

Was it where i suggested? like i said i haven't worked on any but i know the engine orientation is the same for the audi and volkswagen, so i can only assume it would be there also. You can use a claw type filter tool on it or there is the cup type filter tools which i prefer. It should be a small black tin type filter if its oem type filter, be careful when you remove it as there may be a black plastic basket thing on the bottom which is spring loaded and if you are unaware and throw the filter down the spring has a tendency to shoot the basket off.

          Cheers

            Yep, we sure do.

Just upload a photo of your engine bay and we'll point it out for you.
