  • What brake upgrades are available for the 6r?

Im looking into a big brake upgrade on my GTI but im not finding much info on an upgrade for the 6r.

From what I have found, there the Tarox kit (fronts only) or Porsche boxter/cayman with the use of a custom calliper mount. Are these the only options out there? Are there any front and rear big brake upgrades?

    Cheers Nick

It depends. Why do you want bigger brakes?

I have a 5x100 Porsche/Brembo 4 Pot kit - 312mm brembo discs, custom braided lines, adapters and bolts which I might consider selling for the right price. Discs, lines etc are all brand new - calipers have done 40k on the rear of a 911. If you're serious about the upgrade you can make me an offer that's for sure!

Unless you added a lot of power, I think a set of slotted rotors and a nice set of pads (ferodos ds2500 or something like that) and you will be sweet for 'improved braking'. Don't forget to change brake fluid to some high temp oil.

I had this setup on my Integra Type S for track driving, and it worked sweet.

Slotted discs do nothing to improve braking performance on the street, even then you more than likely will not see any gain on a track either.

BLN35, please read THIS thread before considering bigger brakes as realistically, you are going to waste your money.

Pads and fluid will improve braking power. To improve stopping distance and braking performance however, you are looking at the wrong part of the car....

To be totally honest more so for looks than performance as the standard gear is sufficient for my driving (so far but will be looking to hit the track later on). I hate small poxy looking brakes behind big open wheels

And before you say anything, no im not going to put covers on my calipers haha
