  • Polo GTI Convenience Features Activation

    Hey guys,

I just took delivery of my car car yesterday. Seems to be a great choice already; I've just got some questions re dealer-activated features on the car. I know auto-lock on takeoff can be programmed at the dealer, however what about the following:

    1. Can the passenger mirror be programmed to dip when reverse is engaged?

    2. Can the fog lights be activated as "static" - left/right one turns on accordingly with the direction of the car?

    3. Can a coming home/leaving function be activated on the car?

    4. When holding the boot unlock from the keyfob, how do you get the boot to swing open automatically all the way? (Mine merely unlocks and becomes ajar).

Thanks in advance for your responses.

    Cheers,
    Adam

Dude you make me laugh. Probably try reading the manual. As far a i am aware, none of those are possible except maybe no. 3.

Don't think so. Haven't seen an option in VCDS for this.

With the Xenons this is the default. The Xenons come with a more advanced control module from memory so if you have the standard lights I think you're out of luck.

        3. Can a coming home/leaving function be activated on the car?
This requires an aftermarket upgrade from kufatec here or here (with headlight switch that includes 'Auto'). Again, you need the rain sensor (comfort pack from memory?) and xenons.

        4. When holding the boot unlock from the keyfob, how do you get the boot to swing open automatically all the way? (Mine merely unlocks and becomes ajar).
This also requires a hardware upgrade. Been a while since I looked but I think it's something like installing a motor, or it may just be installing stronger pneumatic arms.

A lot of convenience features are unavailable as factory options on the Polo to improve the value proposition of the Golf (or so it seems to me). And you need to have specced a lot of the options to have them available to you.

          1. Doesn't seem to be possible on the Polo, the Audi A1 can do it though

          2. Yeah it comes with Xenons and they don't actually use the fogs for that

          3. Leaving home can't be done without the Auto lights mod in my sig, you'll need Xenons and Comfort to do it. Coming home may be possible without the mod, but you'll still need Xenons (which gives the Polo a more advanced "motherboard" with extra comfort features).

          4. For the Golf high press gas lifters are needed, problem is I don't think they'd fit on the Polo and VW doesn't make Polo ones

Answer to all is no. 3 and 4 can be done with some modifications, 4 much easier than 3 but not recommended for warmer climates if you like your face where it is as on a hot day, it can be quite a violent take off!

3 also requires coding, not just plug and play.

              Thanks for the responses guys.

Wasn't looking for anything complicated so I'm going to leave it. I just thought they would've been a simple dealer re-code or option in some hidden menu on the car.

I've got one last query, can auto air-recycling for the aircon be set to ON as default? I'm having to press it every time I jump in the car..
