  • Has anyone used these license bulbs?

    Hi everyone,

I want white bulbs for my license plate to match my new Phillips on the front but I want to make sure I don't buy some dodgy ones that will fail in a week.

Has anyone used these with any success?

If anyone can suggest something that they have been happy with that would help to.

To be honest, i have the cheap (well... not really, but for the convenience it is) Supercheap LED bulbs for my licence plate and am yet to have an error... which is weird because the same globes gave me bulb out errors on my parkers for the headlights. But the ones you just linked look like the ones i ended up getting for my parkers and they worked perfect.

I know that the BCM in my Polo is configured out of the factory to ignore issues with licence plate lights. I guess all the Polo models have this set?

Where you get your bulbs from?

I'm more worried about blow outs over the cambus issue.

Overall just looking for a unit ppl have used and are happy with.

I got the licence plate ones from Supercheap Auto (happy to recommend, as i havent had issues with mine at all and was only $15 or so for 2, and there were cheaper there aswell). And the parkers i think were from the same place you linked originally which have been great also.

Thanks for that. I often don't buy from local stores because it is usually over priced for a lesser product.

But I shall head to Super Cheap and give them a go.

I you are replacing halogen/incandescent bulbs with other halogen/incandescent bulbs, generally as a rule of thumb you won't get bulb light errors. It's when you start putting LED lights in place of halogen/incandescent bulbs that don't have the correct resistance through them, thats when you can get your bulb errors cropping up.

Are there error codes for the license plate though? Would make sense if there were but often logic doesn't often win with cars :-P

There can be depending on the current draw of the light. Are you replacing with LED lights or normal incandescent bulbs? The GTI also runs a more complete CAN system than the other model polos.

Umm it doesn't matter really. As long as there more white than yellow then it isn't really a bother to me.

I was only going LED because that is mainly what eBay sells but incandescent I can live with perfectly fine. Plus incandescent won't look super ricer like LED would :-P
