  • Will these wheels fit a 6R Polo?

    Hey Guys,
will these wheels fit a 6r Polo GTI?
They are off a Golf 15"

What to run them with winter tyres and fit snow chains to them.

Golf IV I assume? If so, then the PCD and offset will be fine but will 15" clear your brakes? If they front rotors are 288mm, it should be OK but any larger and the won't fit.

sweet looks like i am good to go. Spare set of wheels with winter tyres probably 195/75/15 and more readily available snow chain sizes rather than the expensize Summit K chains is what i am going to do.

Not sure on that mate, minimum size on the Mk4 golf GTI with these same rotors is 16" due to the brake caliper. I'd say don't do it, just in case you get stuck with wheels that don't fit.

Pretty sure thats just a pic of a trendline.

Question is, are the GTI's brakes bigger than the regular Polo?

See the earlier posts about 288mm brakes (which are bigger than those on normal Polos)

Assuming they are from a Golf Mk4, the specs for those wheels are 6.0 J x 15 ET38.

                          The entire 6R Polo range can be fitted with 6.0 J x 15 ET38 (steel) or 6.0 J x 15 ET40 (alloy) wheels for winter usage with 185/60 R15 84T tyres.

Given that the specs match up, I'd rate the chances of those Golf Mk4 wheels fitting as very high indeed, though no doubt you'll find out in due course.

The 6R Polo 1.6 TDI and 1.4 GTI are fitted with 288 mm disc brakes (front).

The rest of the range are fitted with 256 mm disc brakes (front).

Not my car but it was just to prove 15" fits

Anyone know whether running 195or185/65/15 is a good idea on these wheels?
