  • What do you guys want stickied?

    Hey guys and gals,

One thing I have always wondered about for my fellow 6R owners is what kind I things you would want stickied? For those of you who don't know, the stickies are the things at the top of the forum list for quick and easy reference.

So, now that I can do that for you all, I would like some suggestions I what kind of topics you want stickied. For example, DIY guides, suspension options, braking guides and information, list of common replacement components, applicable service campaigns etc.

I will keep this thread open until Friday next week so you can all get in with your ideas

Don't do too many stickies as you will fill the first page with them.

            Merge the Oil Usage threads.
Merge the "What did you pay" and "I've got one" threads.
Create a DIY Sticky with links to the threads in question.

Get rid of the Dealer Stock thread. If they have new stock they can start a new thread - it will drop down the pages as it ages. Otherwise it's not obvious of any change in a sticky.

I think we only need one mods / tuning thread as a sticky and it should link to the other threads, in that way the RNS one just becomes normal and is ref'd. Kind of how the KTM LC4 thread is on ADV if anyone knows that place.

Defo merge the oil register and problem threads to one or a linked list as well. that should also talk about the fixes applied and be sumarised perhaps?

Defo also remove the dealer stock, they can promote the cars in their own threads or bump that old one.

I always think forums should have max 5 stickied threads, else all the other posts are beneath the fold... but then i am an internet design purist and always like the newest stuff on top... i'll get me coat... LOL

as the post above also says, can we have an easier to spot 'new post' highlight on stickies?

At the risk of the ol' foot in both camps scenario
Maybe something along this line where there's a stickied main header, then choice of sub headers
Easier to find important stuff but only taking up one stickied line on first page?

If/when the Polo R comes out, hope no one starts a thread titled Polo R versus Polo GTI (translates mines better than yours)
cant believe a similar thread in other camp STILL holds pride of place on page one, after over 2,555 replies....amazing how many times you can keep flogging a dead horse!

Wow, didn't this take off quicker than a honeymooner's jocks!

Ok, like I said, I'll leve this open to suggestion untill friday but I'll try and do a summary so far:

Oil usage discussion and register will stay separate. I will actually take the time at some point to endeavour to cantact all of those members that have complained about oil consumption issues to post up in the register. This was started for a reason, to use as a measuring stick without any discussion, banter or speculation in it. This might be used valuably like in the case of the piezo injector saga that faced diesel owners, or the sunrrof drains in the USA.

Dealer stock thread I agree, availability has freed up a bit now and if dealers want to post up if they have cars (if they are allowed and registered with the site) available, then they can start a thread.

I will be following GTI MK6's suggestion of taking the Mk6 Golf lead, one thread/sticky with many links in it, broken into categories.

Spotted we can do, as I found out on the weekend, there are only just over 600 GTI's registered in the country so there's a fair bet it's on of us if it's spotted

                        Brakes will be done.

Modifications/aftermarket parts will be done (albeit cleaned up a bit)

Tuning options will be a locked thread, just to show the available compaines and some of their options/parts.

Wheel alignment, which I will reword to remove some confusion.

"What have you done to your polo so far and today" probably not. It's so often updated that it's generally on the first page anyway.

A proper DIY thread, so come on people, we need to start DIY-ing
