Looking for a bit of advice.

erWin - where will the campaigns relevant to my car show up? I paid my 5 euros yesterday and spent an hour bouncing around the site, but couldn't find a "recall".

Either the DSG campaign doesn't affect my car, or I couldn't find it.

    Where should I have looked?

It is not the most user friendly site...

    Thanks, for future reference.

I just went to VW and asked them to do it for me as they said it should have been done on all 7 DSG gearboxs. Save yourself the money and time and just book it in. I noticed some improvements but nothing great, slightly better shifting in lower gears, however it could be a placebo haha

Hey Rob, just ring the Dealer with your VIN or Rego number. Trust me, it will need doing.
I was a bit unsure if it would make a difference, but noticed it was smoother on take off and less jerky at low speeds.
The recall is for all 7 speed DSG's as far as I'm aware.
Takes about an hour or so, but worth the time. Or they can do it at next service if you ask.

Rob, it depends on the build and delivery date of your vehicle. It's possible it was included in the software of your vehicle when it was delivered already, this could be why it doesn't show up on erWin. Once you punch in your VIN, any relevant service campaigns, recalls etc that are applicable to your VIN will come up.

          Thanks, guys,

That answers that question. I was expecting I would need it, as at low speeds, feels like the engine is lugging, especially when cold.

          Cheers!

It was applied to my Feb/2012 Polo when I brought it in for something else so I imagine it covers almost all of them.

5 euro for 1 hour, 22 euro for a day and then it goes up for a week, month, 12 months etc.

Prices range from 5 euros for 1 hour all the way up to 3000 euros for a year.

Its quite cool what you can glean out of that system - everything from service manuals, to Technical Service Campaigns and so on.

                        expensive to use, but

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I wonder about the value of Erwin...

as per my original post, I couldn't find any mention of the DSG campaign affecting me last June. I even called the dealer who said I would hear about it if it were to affect my car.

Low and behold, last week, bring in the car for an unrelated issue - and they tell me there is exactly this DSG recall that needs to be implemented.

                          So, done, finally.

Oh, and new clutches and vent hose. All under warranty. Car drives like it should again. For now....

PS: Do NOT ask for the the lock/unlock "chirp" to be turned on, unless you like a blaring horn announcing you have locked or unlocked the car... learned that the hard way. Reverted!

Rob, it may not have initially been part of the campaign but due to the masses of mechatronic failures lately around the world it might have become a requirement to do it on vehicles produced before a certain date.

Interesting your clutches were done too, they were my first 2 symptoms....

They'll only do the cars they believe are affected within a certain build range and spec, and expand from there.
