  • Paint Protection Advise Needed!

I'm located in Perth, i will be getting my Polo GTI 2012 in Black next week. I'm keen to get a paint protection on it when i got the car. I never had any paint protection on my previous car, so i'm basically need to be enlighten. Below are the few option i found when i googled paint protection Perth, need some advise on which one to go for.
    1. Optimum Car Care - Opticoat
    2. Glosstech - Gtechniq
    3. Diamond Paint Protection - Tough Seal

    Thanks!

Out of those three I'd go Opticoat, it's like another layer of clear coat on your car.

In Perth Freedom Detailing is the only approved detailer to apply Opticoat.

Google ark barrier, it's a glass coating and it works, I've got it on my r32… I'm a spraypainter and I've tried them all, it's very easy to use. Just wipe on and then leave for 1 minute then wipe off with 3 micro fibre cloths. Car will take roughly an hr to do. It fully cures in 2 wks so u DO NOT wash ur car during that time. It definitely works

I used the Nanolex range of products on my GTI. Goooood stuff. The Rim sealant is awesome and cleans so easily!

Before you choose any of them, speak to the guys at carcareproducts.com.au and a few of the Proffesional detailed that are on the forum. Most "paint protection" isn't worth the cash you buy because it will be lucky to last you 12 months, IF you maintain it, don't drive the car and park it in a hyperbaric, humidity controlled chamber.

Opticoat seems toget the best reviews but personally, I don't think its worth the coin... I'd just buy the nanolex or wolfs chemicals range and enjoy being able to care for your car that extra bit once every six months, longer if you use the proper detergents.

            +1 for Nanolex.

I was skeptical, but I did my car last August, and most of it still beads. That's 8 months later. For this dad with 2 kids under 5, the time I've saved not having to wax every month was well worth the extra cost. (Except for maybe the paint preparation spray - smells like ordinary ammonia window cleaner to me...)

Just redone two weeks ago. Overall, pretty impressed.

I've emailing the above 3 car detailer, and here's the quote i got:
              1. Optimum Car Care - Opticoat $850
              2. Glosstech - Gtechniq $450
              3. Diamond Paint Protection - Tough Seal $495

Gav, I'm a bit nervous to do it myself. I don't mind paying a few hundreds to get the the paint protection done and easy care for me after to make the car looks new always.

Another question is, how often do i need to get another paint protection done(once a year or every few year)?

Thanks all for the advises/ suggestions.

I think you would be better served by saving the initial outlay for paint protection and investing it in yearly full details.

Exactly. Spend that kinda money on a full detail each year and honestly, with nanolex or wolfs, if you're that nervous then I guess you don't wash your car because it is literally that easy.

DO NOT, AND I REPEAT DO NOT BUY OPTIMUM!

I had it done last year, it comes off like butter...honestly go with Nanolex.

I will be calling Pierre from Carecarproducts to book my car in soon as I'm sick to death with the treatment I had received from the person who was an "opticoat" approved detailer...don't buy it...don't trust it...don't risk it!

Nanolex is fantastic, Wolf is even better for your wheels!

Agree, Nanolex is as easy as waxing, only you don't need to do it nearly as often. It was a revelation for me.

I got Opti-Coat done on my car about 2 weeks after I bought it, and it's still looking great.
Its really easy to clean, beads awesomely, and there are no swirls or scratches on it at all.

Mark from Freedom Car Care did a great job on it, and he took his time. I got a couple of coats on all panels, windows (except for the windscreen) and wheels done.

I can't speak for the other options, but I can recommend Opti-Coat, and also recommend Mark at Freedom Car Care.
