  • Melbourne Service Advice

    HI Guys,

I have looked through the forum but can't find the info I need. I bought my car at Essendon VW and taken my car back over 10 times with the several issues and have absolutely no faith in them.

My car is now due for 15,000km service. I am hoping to find a new dealer that will service my vehicle properly and actually get rectification on:

My continued oil consumption even after having rings replaced
My gearbox making awful sounds since being replaced
    Rattles in the engine bay
    Rattles in the dash
    Squeeky windows

Can you guys please give me your trusted advice, I am happy to travel anywhwere in Melbourne.

    Thanks.

Anyone got reports on service at camberwell? I've been using Barloworld but it is further away (using it cause thats where family member went) and also having no rectification on oil burning issue but I guess that is less the dealers fault and more fault with the car.

I won't go near Moorabbin Barloworld again after the crappy service I got there for investigation of a noise while under warranty. Then again, they did use the latest spec 504.507 oil on my car when it got serviced there while Camberwell used 502.505 oil on our current model Golf.

I'll be going to Burwin for my next service.

This is an all too common common issue with this dealership, many a 6r buyer alone has had issues.

I would only recommend Burwin for a VW service centre, I didn't buy my car there and they have fixed all the issues I have had with mine.

I Have spoken to Mark at Burwin.

He advised that due to Essendon Volkswagen doing works on the gearbox and motor issues previously under warranty, they are unable to look at them. They can only do the service and look at rattles but that is all.

I am completely at a loss. Purchasing this car has ended up being the worst investment I have ever made.

Mark is a great bloke and helpful 100%. They have looked after everything on my 3 vw's. Unfortunately i know where he is coming from. If essendon have logged issues with your car, he can't twist it to make it sound like warranty.

But seriously, never come across anyone as good as Mark and Jim at Burwin.

I went to Camberwell to have my steering wheel fitted with a new MFSW with paddle shifters. I was really surprised that a dealer was willing to do this "mod". What's even more surprising was the fact they were cheapest compared to the other VW specialists/independents. Also, they were the most responsive throughout the whole enquiry and process.

Dropped the car off at 9.30am and was told that it'll be ready by 11.30am and true enough, I got a call at exactly 11.30am telling me that everything was done and ready to go. They also changed my cracked side view mirror without having to pay extra for labour. The mirror part was also the cheapest compared to other specialists.

I'll admit that I was a bit nervous/skeptical after getting the all-okay call cause I wasn't sure if they were capable of doing a good job based on the general reputation about dealership servicing but the whole experience with VW Camberwell have given me a glimmer of hope with dealers.

I bought my Jetta and my fiance's Polo from South Yarra and I returned to get the wastegate clip fitted on my Jetta. Experience was alright, wasn't spectacular or anything. There was some mix up with my fiance's Polo and I don't think they did enough to rectify it, felt like they were doing us a favour more than anything.

I'll probably avoid them for my next service and go to Camberwell instead.

Will hopefully never deal with them again...

Camberwell VW have twice now used 502/505 spec 5w40 oil on our car rather than 504/507 even though I specifically asked the service rep about what oil would be used while dropping off the car the last time and being assured that 504/507 5w30 would be used

Also, they have twice now had my wife wait half an hour after the requested pick up time before the car was ready and she's now talking about Toyotas, Nissans, Hondas and Misubishis

OK, a retraction. Camberwell VWs service manager assured me today that the car did get 504/507 5w30 oil used in the most recent service but their system hasn't been updated to reflect this on their invoices.

The wife still isn't happy about the delays but that'll go into the servicing survey.

                              Hi Guys,

Anyone used Werribee Volkswagen to service their cars? Any feedback or comment would be great as it's near work and obviously more convenient than Burwin.
