  • Is the 'message' function on the new bluetooth compatible in Australia?

My 2012 polo has the new bluetooth (the dash mounted one)
And I cant seem to get to the bluetooth to 'read' the messages like it says it should.
All the options are there, but they are greyed out.
    Im using an iPhone4.
Have asked the dealer but he is not sure, he said it should work as far as he knows - which doesnt help me much.
Anyone got it to work? (everything else works fine)

Yeah have also tried a few times and nothing ever shows up when I touch the messages tab.

It won't work because you're using an iPhone... I don't believe iPhones are compatible with this function... Doesn't work with mine either...

RandomX is correct. You need a phone that supports rSAP. I think most Nokias and Blackberries support it, along with some androids.

If this is similar to the functionality of the "9WZ" Bluetooth module I installed in my car, then it does work but needs phones which support RSAP (Remote SIM Access Protocol). AFAIK the iPhone doesn't support this - It seems to be Nokia and a handful of other phones.

When it's working in this mode the car "borrows" the SIM from the Phone and uses its own 3G antenna to connect to the mobile network, so it's the car receiving text messages which is why it can display them.

Bugger!!! Why build technology that doesn't support a phone that makes up one of the highest percentage of users??

Is there an upgrade or additional software i can get for the iPhone?

            Thanks All

Theres a utility to do it if your iphone is jailbroken, it's called RSAPserver
I'll try it when my car arrives, but it's not on a ship yet.

If youre in canberra and want to try it you can try my phone, pm me.

This is what I'm using with my rooted HTC Desire. Worth it for me, but I agree it's a lot of money.

Sorry the current version of RSAPserver tool is
"Compatible with iphone 4 (not 4S!), 3GS and 3G (with limitations)"

If you have an Iphone 4 not 4S you may be in luck, mine is a 4S. They do plan to enable rSAP for 4S in future development.

if your familiar with cydia you can dowload a free 10 trial or buy license for $9.99

Still no Iphone 4s version yet.
Please go here (iPhone 4S RSAP-Server support) and let the developer know your interested so he is encouraged to continue his good work
also tell him it's worth more than $9.99 to you if it works

                            thanks

Has anyone got rSAP going on the new Polos?

I tried rSAP server now that the 5.1.1 Jailbreak is out and I just couldn't get it to dance with my Polo. It kept saying Mobile Phone is Not Compatible after entering my pin. I did get my phone working on the work transporter, which has a 9WZ system installed.

The developer suggested the Polo's 9ZA BT system might not like my Nextg sim (though it worked with the 9WZ). Might try my mates Optus iPhone4. I'm hoping they whack rSAP into iOS 6 anywho
