Polo - High engine oil usage - Register

The old thread with the similar title is getting too long and I feel that there are many Polo oners who would like to have something done reapired/replaced or compensated for many things that this issue will bring them. Like bad resale value, time lost with the etra maintenance and cost arising from it.

So, we should have one here as well, since the Polo problem is bigger one.

Comments: I Personally did an oil change at 6500kms, so I have dis-regarded the 4.5 litres that went in during that oil change.

Comments: for now no oil issues, added 200ml by the dealer at 1.500Km's free check (they said), then I personally added the other 250ml using the can provided with the new car. Engine production date (orange label on the right side of the engine, left looking at the engine with the hood open): August 2011

Total oil used/added by owner: use Litres - bought 1L, dealership has refilled it for me since. It has been refilled 3 times. I'm not sure I can even add the oil consumption up - maybe 20-30L, I usually add my litre in then go to the dealer and they add more!
Days without the car: only if you were not offered loan car (equivalent to your new Polo, not the old Corolla with 300,000km) Fortunate enough to have been offered a loan car, base model golf or Tig. It has put me out at other times though when I have needed to go for a drive, oil light has come on and had to make the time to go to a dealer and not drive it until then.

Repairs done: Piston rings were replaced I think Jan 2012 - oil consumption has now just started to increase again.

Updated - have now lost an additional 5 hours going to dealership - consumed another few litres of oil in less than 2,000km. Car is at dealership to get new engine. They have supplied me a loan car until it is finished.

Comments: Oil consumption test deemed to be "within limits". 2 litre addition of oil is misleading, as dealer obviously added oil during tests. Funny thing is it seems to have settled down, ever since I got an APR tune at about 6000 km. Have yet to add any oil 4000 km on. Still losing it, but not at the same rate. Would that have happened anyway, without the tune? I wish I could say! Maybe I'll run the Stock program for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference...

Comments: Love the car very quick, just annoyed over oil usage.
Since 15,000km service I have had oil light appear at 18,000km and 21,000km and taken to dealer for top-ups both times.

my polo has now consumed 500ml of oil in 800km.... I have booked it in AGAIN to be checked out and wondering whether they'll make me do another 1000km before they look at it.

VERY frustrated.. lost 4 hours of work because of it as had to change shifts around so that I could drop it off and pick it up.

Went in again after they said to do a 1000km oil test, went in an they check again only used 300mL in 980kms so they want me back in after another 1000kms.

Umm...correction.
Yesterday the $%^&*&ing oil light came on again.
Had 200 mls left over from my top up bottle. Will call the dealer and see what options I have.
