If given the choise, I would go for the Kia.. Very mich like the design and the Polo with all its problems can't compete with 7 years warranty in my eyes
Was looking at a Hyundai Veloster yesterday. Very much a car I like but I could understand others wanting to vomit. Looking forward to the turbo version.
The Kia looks OK if you like something slightly more mainstream.
carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

accidentally LOLed when I read "vomit". Although i must agree with your vomit statement. To me the veloster looks like someone took an old Citroen C4 coupe and sneezed while redesigning it. No offence intended btw, its just personal opinion.

I think that you're more than successful when the others are comparing themself to you. The KIA is putting turbo on their engine to combat Polo GTI, hmm they're doing it for the wrong reason. VW does it for the fuel economy and performance comes with it.
More like the Cherry is the Kia's dirrect competitor, in quality and the price.

i cannot comment on how turbo korean "warm" hatches go, and for all i know the engineers at kiundai who are putting these motors together might be ex-euro manufacturers, but i once read online something that i had to agree with - euros are very adept at putting together proper turbo engines that deliver torque/power seamlessly, not just engines with turbos bolted on that kick your kidneys hard once you hit 3500rpm.
the veloster - it's a little overdesigned for my tastes. i once said that VW designs boring cars. i still believe that, but that's also part of why i like them - im an under-the-radar kind of person. veloster, even turbo, couldnt tempt me as i reckon it's just a little too busy.
kia rio turbo would be good, as it's a great looking car, but how much do the koreans know about handling/ chassis development in the context of driving enthusiasts?
no point in having pooowaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh if the car gets a sour face when it sees a corner - you'd be better off with something like (from what i've read, and am taking more and more interest to) the new suzuki swift sport, which is n/a.
not a rocketship, but they reckon its just FUN to drive, and brilliantly balanced.
