LOL, I wouldn't say ripping off the scirocco but anyway. Apparantly Ateco Australia (importers of Citroen to Australia) say that the DS3 racing could not come to Australia due to it not abiding by Australian Design Rules (ADRs). Lets hope they incorporate/consider ADRs when building the DS4R. Citroen DS3 Racing hot-hatch ruled out | Car Advice I can't wait for this DS4, Citroen haven't released FULL specs but they have said that it could have at least 256BHP/190KW so it could rival the Scirocco R or Golf R. Must say it sucks being on red-P plates no turbos.

man, citroen are putting out some stunning looking cars - i personally cant wait to see what the DS5 will look like, on big wheels, lowered etc etc - not as a sports car, but more as a good looking hatch cruiser.

and yes, those ADR's....... they're the reason for the audi rs3 not making it into australia.

you've got to wonder, dont you? the audi rs3 is apparently too much car for australians to safely drive - we just dont have the capacity to drive it without hurting ourselves, but a 6.2 litre v8 with 1800kg's of weight, that's okay, nice and safe for australian motorists?

now im sad. i've been so amped about the renault twingo making it into australia after they start bringing the 5 door all auto clio 4 in, but those frigging ADR's... now im feeling crestfallen.

I think it would still need an inspection to gain a roadworthy certificate. My uncle imported a Toyota Soarer from Japan a few years ago and it required an inspection (but it passed and gained a roadworthy certificate). So unless things have changed, I think they could stop you. You could do what some other people do with their DS3's (for example) and just buy the fastest "standard" model which in this example is the DS3 DSport and then upgrade parts on it and chip it to perform the same as the "Racing" model or better in some cases. I know the DS3Racing is "only" about 40kw more powerful and about 40Nm more torque so I would imagine there shouldn't be too much of a difference between the fastest "standard" DS4 and the "racing".

They will stop the car as it does not conform to ADR specifically due to the suspension design...there is an E92 M3 BMW for 49k (Aud) got a quote for 8k in a container and insurance coverage

Are you referring to the Soarer or the Citroen? If its the Soarer then I can assure you its fine or my uncle handed the inspector a large paper bag -.- But this was back in 2003/2004. So it may have changed now. Just fyi he did modify it a lot but I can't remember whether it was after it got registered or before hand.

Of course you wont be able to import it. The importer of Citroen already has dibs on the DS3 range. As such you can't parallel import it.
The reported ADR issue is smoke and mirrors as far as I can tell. The DS3 Racing is a limited edition AND it was far too expensive to sell here (even the UK press say it's too exxy for what you get).

The only way you could get one in is as a private import. Meaning you would have to have owned it for at least 12 months overseas and actively driven it. Would you even bother for a DS3?

Nah i wouldn't bother with a DS3...I would bother with that E92 BMW M3 though....as long as it was manual! I did enjoy SMG on my old M3 but i would never get it again. or DCT as they call it now...

as pologti18 stated, you cannot bring vehicles in as parallel imports, subaru dealt with this in the early 90's in a clever way by separating engines and bodies, but not worth the hassles. Unless you have a very fruitful money tree, you wouldn't consider it, but if you had a money tree THAT fruitful, i think for the same kind of coin you could buy a whole lot more car locally.
