Shouldn't be cutting out the turbo regardless of how it's being driven, even with stage 1. The diverter valve does just that, diverts the charged air back into the intake tract. I'd be going straight back to Quattro and getting them to do a thorough diagnosis on it. If the turbo keeps cutting out as you say, it could be software and hopefully it is. If its mechanical and wasn't doing it beforehand....

These turbos are putting out big numbers on track days with stage 2 tunes quite comfortably, I know one guy running water/methanol injection on his and is putting out scary-fast numbers on stock internals, even Guy at APR Australia has said the stock turbo can be good for 250hp so I highly doubt the turbo can't take the tune.

seems to be settling down a bit now... went to check it out with Brian @ Quattro and he seemed stumped... so does Harding... ive disconnected the darn sound generator... now i can actually hear whats going on with the engine...

i'll keep everyone informed as this progresses as i feel its important to document these little 'quirks'

just spoke with Guy from Harding Performance (why can't we have a harding branch in WA?) and he suggested it could be the spark plugs... he has suggested using NGK spark plugs from a Audi A1. They are going to try this on a car they have locally which has the same issues and will report back with the results...

If that's all it is then i'm happy...

Spark plugs are a known issue on these cars, many a problematic engine can be traced back to them.

Interesting. I haven't had these issues at all... but come to think of it, my spark plugs had been replaced at the time of install....

Also note that I have yet to add any oil since the remap - now close to 4000 km on. The level is dropping, but not nearly at the same rate. (Before, it was using about 1 L per 2000km - just as the manual predicted.) Maybe it's a coincidence, as the car had just hit 6000km when the work was done, but I'd like to think it was the tune! This is plausible, btw, as I don't need to open the throttle as much to get up to speed, with the tune on board.
