  • APR Stage 1 Complete!

    Hi All,

Just had my Polo GTI flashed with the APR Stage 1 program... While there is a mild difference, personally its not $1300 worth of difference. Also the power delivery is very jerky when travelling over 100kmph @ ~ 4-7000rpm... (Overtaking)

I've definitely got it set to 98 Octane and i'm definitely running 98 Octane BP Ultimate.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Josh

If your not happy take it back to the APR dealer and get them to diagnose.

98 Shell Vpower is just as good as BP ultimate....plus is it really hot in perth today? Probs getting lots of hot air is not doing it any favours

That seems to concur with the Ausmotive review that was posted up the other day with a stock Polo Gti and an APR Stage 1 Polo Gti.

If I eventually do buy a Pogo, I won't be modding it but horses for courses!

Def this is going to be a factor. I would hold out until it's cooler to make a final judgement. It's been high 30s in Adelaide this week and boost power is certainly down for me!

i still have to remember, i've only done 800km's... still nowhere near run in... so i'm sure there will be a few hiccups...

the HP CAI should definitely help things along.

Because of the torque band of the engine the extra torque probably isn't goin to feel as extreme as with other engines but you should definitely feel the difference with the extra pull... Mind you, at only 800kms on the clock, you wouldn't know the car intimately enough to feel the difference...

But...we had some humidity this morning.

Also..800kms...that donk is still gonna be a bit tight.

FWIW...register your findings with APR...that way, if there are issues later on, you have established a communication history/channel with them.

                    Also...cheers

Have you tried reverting to program 1 (Stock) to see if you notice a difference?

I'd also let the ECU 'dial' itself in, then I'd definitely be going back to dealer... after all APR should have a satisfaction guarantee of some sort.

Personally i would of left the tune until at least 3000KM's to let the engine bed in a little.

just put it back to 95 octane... works fine now...

could be bad fuel, could be not enough air, could be the new engine...

it happened again today.. .the turbo just cuts out... supercharger still spools but no turbo until i turn off and on again...
maybe the tune is demanding too much out of the turbo?

                            ill call quattro and ask.

                            cheers,

I honestly don't know enough about the GTI engine but i know that on the 77TSI it has a blow off valve.....when the boost becomes to high it diverts the pressure out of the turbo.....You may be showing over boost....To be fair...how are you driving the car? remember its not a racing car.....you have to treat them with a bit of respect. When they say drive it hard to bed it in....They don't mean flog the **** out of it.
