  • Polo DSG Problems ?

    Hi,

I am looking to buy a 77TSI DSG... would the gearbox be the same as my 118TSI DSG ? I have some annoying issues with the Golf and would hate to have the same on the Polo...

    Thanks !

Well its the same DSG7 in the 77TSI. I had all sorts of problems with my 66TDI DSG and ended up selling it after 6 months because it was dangerous to drive. Link to my thread, http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ger-67521.html

But hopefully if you do decide to buy it, your DSG will be like most of the others 77TSI and actually WORKS. And when it works, I have to agree that transmission is one hell of a piece of kit. Best of both worlds really.

My personnal opinion would be to look else where or get a manual.

well so far THE_EGG is the only person on here to have issues but they stem more from the dealership rather than the box itself (which was faulty but wouldn't be replaced).

And those who had the shunting issue before their clutch was damaged simply had an update installed via the computer for gearing like myself and been happy every since

you need to get out more (and research the 6R sector of the forum)

Ok, so 2 polos getting/requiring new gearboxes. Compare that to the oil issues with the GTI.....

I'm the only person probably on vwwatercooled (however if you go onto the Golf mk6 section http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...-41977-82.html and go to DSG problems you will see a multitude of people complaining about their DSG6's and DSG7's but mainly DSG7's) but there are LOADS of people out on other sites that had the same DSG problems as me. Also it must be pretty common if there was a recall of DSG equipped vehicles in the US. Also all vwlovr asked was whether the 77TSI had the same box as the 118TSI and the answer is yes. Please note though that there is also a multitude of people happy with their DSG boxes.

Wow ! It looks like this is a hot topic.

Indeed, all I wanted to know is if the polo was using the same gearbox.
I have read more about the DSG issues and it seems that all I need is luck

                      Thanks all
