the torque of these small polos (both 9n3 and 6r) is the reason why people who drive other cars get a big surprise - out-of-corner acceleration is actually pretty impressive.

im not sure how well this new swift gti stacks up against the older one, but yeah - i dont think it would be as quick as a pog gti in the twisties, not by a fair margin... i dont even know if they're fun, i've never driven one.

all things being equal, i think i'd still (for the same money) prefer a polo 1.2tsi with sport pack, if i could wing it for the $25k.
Cant say much for the new swift sport but the previous model seemed to keep up pretty well a while back when going on a cruise with the swift boys.

Weird. I thought the press release photos looked weird cos it was photochopped all wrong

But this is a real life pic and it isnt particularly well proportioned either.

      The rims look too small.

I actually thought the outgoing model looked "better" proportioned somehow

Does anyone remember VW and suzuki were in talks last year of collaborating together?
This could have turned out into sharing tech/engine designs etc......
Do a quick search on google and you will find it......
imagine the new swift sport with a dsg and a tsi (1.2 tsi, 1.4 tsi, or 1.4 tsi twincharger)........
Next: Mk 5 Golf R32 (in blue please)
Now: 2014 Skoda Yeti 90tsi Ambition TECH PACK
        Had: 2012 ABARTH 500 esseesse
        Had:2010 77tsi DSG7, Comfort Pack, Reflex silver

driving behind scott, i could tell that the cars were dynamically pretty good, but i let him have around 100m infront of me on the way back, and it still only took me 3-4 corners to be back on his tail (he had a clear road infront of him).

the car's good, but i cannot help but think how externally big it is for a car that has much less interior room than the polo 9n3... that's why, even though it was amongst the cheaper options that i was looking at in 2008, i took one look inside and went "nope. no rear leg room".

The sport will also come with a CVT transmission as an option as well, CVT vs DSG??? think the polo would have the upper hand there.

Dynamicly the suzuki would be better than the polo with the comfortline suspension with standard 15 inch wheels.....

Interior feel and look would be miles ahead in the polo, and better if u have either climate control and/or an RCD510/RNS510 fitted.

And last but not least the swift does not have a DSG Blurp.........My upmost fav thing i love about my polo
jesus not CVT, anything but CVT PLEASE!!!! My most hated auto box ever. Good thing there is the manual version.

They nailed the proportions so well on the last model that the newest seems a little inbred.

It will be the Hyundai Veloster that upsets the Polo GTI sales this year.

Its 170 kgs heavier than the GTI at 103kw...no competition against the Polo GTI mate.

What about the Veloster Turbo? 150kW and 265Nm.

Also the normal Veloster Manual is 1230Kg and the Auto is 1265Kg, with the Polo GTI being 1189Kg the difference in weight is 41-76Kg.

Take a look at Hyundai Aus, they aren't offering the Turbo only the Veloster and Veloster +

Thats because it isn't out yet anywhere. Its coming 'Late 2012' and Hyundai Aus have confirmed they're bringing it here. Mind you with the FS + model with Auto asking for $29K w/o on-roads, Im thinking the Turbo would be at least 5K more

With its Wheel base and width...it seems more likely a Golf Challenger...not the Polo.

The real Polo threat is the Fiesta ST.

If this comes out, i may jump off the VW wagon...
