  • Just bought a 2012 Polo GTI :)

    Hi All,

Just signed the papers for my new Polo GTI... Upgrading from my 77TSI

Even better, i didn't have to wait for it... Was a cancelled order @ Mandurah Volkswagen

So.... i got a Polo GTI in Shadow Blue with Bi-Xenon lights

Should be delivered to me tomorrow or Wednesday

I'll be selling off some parts from my 77TSI and also the stock rims + tyres from the GTI

    Cheers,

    Josh

Congrats mate, hopefully you don't get the oil consumption issues

I'd also forget about the K&N filter, save your cash for something beneficial, like a bigger turbo-back exhaust or intercooler

How much did you get for the 77TSI if you don't mind me asking?

Also...Why is the K+N filter a waste of money?

The performance gains that K&N claim have so far never really been justifiably proven, plus the stock filter performs just as good, if not better because it has a far greater filtration surface area. Then there is the whole oiled-filter debate but seriously, after cutting up an old maintained K&N, even withsemi-regualr washing, it's never as clean as when it's new. There is always crud in it.

You want proper performance from an intake? Buy an ITG intake setup. Proven performance gains vs the stock system on un-tuned cars.

+1. i had a bmc filter in my car for about 25,000km's, then reverted back to stock. i had laid down $125 for the filter so my arse told me that the car "felt revvier" but it was just placebo.

plus, my car's a keeper - im running it into the ground - it wont stop me from buying other cars somewhere down the line, but im going to have this car for a LOOOOOOONG time. check out tdiclub.com and some of the stuff that they say about aftermarket panel filters, such as:

                  - pressing an oem paper filter into the air box is a TIGHT fit; dropping a k&n/bmc filter in is literally, dropping it in, which indicates insufficient sealing which may allow dirty air through
                  - oil is bad for your maf, but you HAVE to oil the filter thoroughly or it will simply let dirty air through
                  - oem paper filters have like 5 times the filtration element than a k&n/similar
                  - people have done CSI miami style swabbing down on the ''clean'' side of an airbox, normal vs. k&n, and put it under a microscope- after 5,000 miles the ''performance'' air filter has let through enough dirt for the tdiclub boys to liken using a ''performance'' panel filter to "gently sandblasting your engine".

i read, i liked, i spent the money, i wanted to believe... but then i realised that my car's just too important to me to do that to it.

Actually RandomX & MJKooLio, LED Licence plate lights come standard with the Xenons. That was part of the MY12 (not 12.5) changes
