  • Polo GTI rear door interior trim

Hey guys, took a seat in the back for the first time today since i picked up the car (let my dad drive it when he came to visit).

Noticed that the trim is not sitting level and does not appear to be fully "clicked in" at the top right hand corner.

I'm guessing that the monkeys who did the tinting simply did not reattach the trim properly. I've tried simply to push firmly down on it or even just inwards but it would not go into place. Any idea how the door trim is removed and should be properly attached?

Don't have a camera at the moment... but if you're looking from the outside its the lower left hand corner of the window, you can clearly see the trim sticking up. And from the inside that same corner isn't sitting flush I can get half a finger in the gap there.

Any instructions on how to do it myself would save a drive to the service department cheers~~

    Regards,
    Michael

What it will be is the monkeys who removed the water seals along the window frame to put the tint in have not correctly re-inserted the door trim into the door frame. Upon inspection you will notice that the locking-in trim plastic has folded under and is causing the trim to sit up.

    Ask me how I know.

I used a nylon trim tool and carefully lifted up the rear area of the door sil trim then using another nylon trim tool carefully pulled the plastic back then inserted it back into the door gap where it belongs.

If you're not absolutely comfortable meddling, best take it to service department. They'll remove the door panel entirely (not something I wanted to do) and push the plastic back into shape and it should be all good.

So apparantly, the trim guys shoved so hard the plastic guides are now warped, they said its possible to bend them back but may as well get new ones. New door trim ordered, nice fat bill sent to tint company.

How much did that cost? What did the tint company say when you sent the bill in?

The dealer had organised the tinting, so I have no paperwork to deal with on my end of things. I am not sure how much it actually costs, but the service guy look on his face seemed to indicate around the 400-500 region incl. shipping etc i dont know.
