How did you sync your phone without going through the MFD+ display? I thought you could only do it with the MFD+ menu?
Sync for my contacts / numbers etc was a non issue .... Worked from the get go.
Voice control and ViM required a bit of a tweak via a home burned CD with the right code on it.
I think all/ most RNS functions can be coded without the MFD+ display.

So, can you confirm that with Mr Spaniard's unit, the steering wheel can be used to control the phone? Pick up, hang up, volume?

Mind you, I only have the RCD 510... I wonder if that makes a difference.

You won't get full functionality of the A2DP function I don't think, or is it text to speach..... Can't 100% remember but I do know that the RNS 510 + 9W7 combo does allow text to speach if enabled, not 100% on the A2DP functionality though...

          Hi RoknRob
I can confirm that S's unit is an OEM item, and that the steering wheel controls worked without coding. Volume up and down, and answer/ hang up.

          Hi Gavs
The advanced audio distribution profile is fully supported. Text to speech I don't know about.

Is the warranty the factory version? Or some lame dealer option? And do you think you will need 6 yrs of warranty (do you keep your cars that long).

All "packs" (paint, rustproofing, dent protection, nuclear fallout protection etc etc) supplied by the dealer are a waste of money. Get your tint elsewhere for $400 max.

Thanks for that - bit the bullet and ordered it. Hopefully works as well with the RCD 510.

And thanks, gavs - the RNS allows for voice CONTROL, which the RCD 510 doesn't.

              Will keep you posted.

I'd convinced myslef to get a 9W7 for myself, but now that the bum has fallen out of the aussie dollar again..... New camera lens instead now!

Ha! Good call! Though I would argue that the Aussie dollar is not doing that bad, really... Compared to not that long ago...

And where will you get the camera lens from? Overseas? Well, there goes that argument!

Be sure to check out bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com. Despite the aussie dollar dropping a bit, often these places can do a lot better than the locals. Other than the fact that you can't order on the Sabbath... Service is otherwise excellent.

I've bought new and used equipment from them. I've bought barely used lenses from them at an even better discount. You wouldn't have known they were used.

Cheers rob, will do! Yeah, out of Hong Kong is probably the best place and they generally trade in AUD which is handy

They installed a Parrot system in mine with the RCD-510. It's fully integrated with the MFD and works a treat.

Only issue is that the controls on the steering wheel don't control a few options when using the BT streaming which is a bit annoying but I plan on using the SD card anyways!

Can I be so indiscrete as to ask for a ball park figure of the cost? I ordered the 9w7 because it appears to be a much cheaper option than anything they could have installed locally - even with local, professional installation.
