I wonder how many are driving around with the same problem but not reporting it to VW...

Otherwise these do seem to be holding up quite well for both stock and tuned engines, so hopefully it's just a few isolated cases here and there.

Honestly John i don't think its a big issue only TSI' i have seen with a "DSG" fault were ones with faulty clutch kits installed from Factory.

This could boil down to the "Monday Build" cars.

Hopefully EVERYONE who has similar problems should REPORT it to VW as they appear to be in a STATE of COMPLETE DENIAL.
Saying that it is the way I'm driving it is a COMPLETE COP OUT by VW, for sure If one looks on Google there are many many
disgruntled VW Owners out there!

I would assume that PEOPLE who OWN a DSG equipped POLO who THINK they have a PROBLEM with it would have REPORTED it to their DEALER.

Hi all,

I have a Polo TSI version equipped with the 7 speed - DSG since Sept 2010 with 13000km in the odometres. It has gone through the first service with repair on the rattling noise in the fuel pipe lines happens during Acceleration.

Recently after the first service at South Yarra (Sept 2011), the DSG gearbox decided to act peculiar.
I think it happened more frequently when it is on start stop traffic with hill type situation...

Does anyone has the judders problem with the DSG gearbox?

I'd like to mention an issue I have with my 77TSI DSG (2010) - not quite the same but worth mentioning. While at first the car ran seamlessly after a few months I noticed a rattling/grinding noise which I could not locate but mentioned to VW - on two separate occasions. As I could not replicate the noise they told me to keep an eye on it. On the annual service recently I was able to pinpoint the issue to the DSG gear changes. Originally the issue only occurred of the noise moving from 5th to 4th gear. Then more recently from 2nd to 1st as well. VW (Sth Yarra) rep said this was just the way the 77TSI DSG ran, and in fact now it's had its service the noise occurs during other gear changes as well. Has anyone else experienced this? And would like to mention the car has done low mileage and is driven quietly - so has not been due to handling issues.

Just because you don't have it doesn't mean it isn't real- last weekendtried to reverse up a friend's driveway- the DSG on my Skoda decided it would not start up the hill until I revved the engine up- a LOT, then it engaged for about 1 second, then the gearbox disengaged (put the clutch in) and the car rolled down the driveway towards him and his daughter who were standing in front of the garage. Tried again, and again the DSG tried to kill my friend and his family. Again. 4th time lucky, managed to keep engine engaged with gears long enough to reverse up the driveway. Scary. I've been reporting "jerkiness" to the dealer since my car was new. Now it is 3 months out of factory warranty (now have Allianz extended warranty), it is going in to the dealer next week. But of course if it does not do it there and then, the dealer says the problem does not exist.

Get the people off the drive way man. You have to learn the way the hill-start assist works, it's a lot like a manual in that without enough revs you can't engage the clutch because that will stall the engine. Combine this to the fact that the hill-start assist brakes are activated for a few seconds after braking on a hill, car rolling back after disengagement of clutch on a hill is no surprise.

Jerkiness is real though, but only from 1st to 2nd.

It won't stall the engine. Been through the tight streets of Monaco in the Polo and some are almost vertical.. No rollback, no high revs on take off, ever. Worked like a dream.

Edit: maybe the driveway wasn't sloped enough to activate hill hold? that would explain the rollback. Or you could always do it yourself, left foot on brake, right on gas and off you go

I didnt try the hold rolling forwards, but it worked really well for rolling back. Easy to test if it works: stop on hill, lift foot off brake... wait... after 4 or so secs you feel the brakes come off and you start to roll back. hit brake again and let go... same thing... I did this over and over to explain to my mother in law how it worked as she is interested in buying one and this was on the test drive.

The anti roll back is perfect for Aussie roads as it seems in Sydney most drivers have no idea (or care) about rolling back at the lights, ive seen cars roll around half a car length as their drivers prepare to get on the gas! mental. sigh.
