  • R-Line package for Polo announced

I had a look at the main page before logging in and noticed that VW unveiled the R-Line including a Polo Variant with a choice of engine...what the deuce...if so glad i got a TSI would love to order an R if it ever comes here with an AWD TSI engine

Do you think it will ever filter into the Aussie market?

The article isn't very informative about the engine... what does it mean the Polo R line will be available in any engine combination. So we can pick any current polo engine to be part of a car with R styling only? The article seemingly only talks about different styling rather than performance, as opposed to the Beetle and Tiggy ones where some performance figures where mentioned.

How many concepts displayed at IAA in the past by VW have made it into production also?

Hopefully they will be offering the new 1.6T engine and a manual transmission. I'd buy one if they offered that in Oz.

That looks amazing! But I'm 99% sure it's going to be a styling package only - I can't see VW every doing a 4 Motion Polo other than the 'Cross Polo' or 'Dune' in the UK.

I don't know something tells me its an R-line rather than an R styling release if so that would mean a lot of angry GTI owners will stick their heads out of the window shaking their fists and a lot of boy racers will que up for a 1.6 manual I'm with you Triode if it comes out in a 1.6 manual i will most likely trade in, if it goes AWD or Rear I'll be even more wrapped.

You may notice on the second image the "TSI" badge...also the fact that it has 16 inch wheels as standard would suggest it is an "R-Line" styling package rather than an "R" model.

If they do come out with a Polo R with a manual transmission I know one buyer, but with the GTI being DSG only I doubt the R will come in manual

Not really. We already know the answer.

The "R Line" has been around for quite some time. It covered the Golf, Scirocco, Passat and Touareg for the last few years. Now it will include other models, including the Polo.

The R Line is a styling package only.

I've edited the thread title to make this clearer.

Probably not, judging from the current Golf R. They don't look like boy racer cars.

Most VW's dont come under attention, probably because it's a more mature driver's car. It's the Skylines, Silvia's and WRX's that are true police magnets...

+1 - can't see "engine choices" happening, but hey -this is by no means official "party line"; time will tell...
