  • Volkswagen Progression and insights course at phillip island

    Hi All,

    well organized event

I attended the Progression Course on the 6th an had an awesome time! IMO the driver training was too basic with little educational value for me.

But the 2 hot laps in both the Golf GTI and Polo GTI around Phillip Island was fantastic! The best test drive of a car I've ever done before purchase.

I left the day knowing 2 things: Firstly, the Polo GTI is definitely worth the 12 month wait; and secondly, I need to start saving for the Golf R to replace it. Drool....

good to here, my group in the insights course missed getting the gti polo but instead we got the tsi golf 118, very suprised by it never had i driven any of tsi's till then only ever driven all the diesels.

i would be happy to trade my polo tdi in for the golf tsi any day, but being younger i'm still learning and the new skills i've taken away will help me become a better and safer driver.

however next year i'am looking forward to the progression's course i love the sound of the golf r and the gti both very amazing and special cars.

      congrats on your gti polo!!!

Where does one get info on these courses? Do they send new owners invitations? If not, they should...

It's on the VW Australia website. Save your dollars though for a proper advanced driver training course that teaches proper vehicle control an isn't fwd and fwd-biased awd reliant in vehicles that you can't turn stability control off. Kinda pointless about learning vehicle control in a car that is almost impossible to lose control in....

i was told that next year Volkswagen will run the progression course again as well as more advanced course using Audi's Volkswagen's and other cars under the Volkswagen group one would think it'd be something to look forward to.

also as i'm young so it does not bother me in the slightest weather its fwd Rwd all Awd i'm still learning new technique's either way i still get to drive the cars i love!!

Not a valid excuse - advanced driver training courses and even track days are far safer than learning how to control a car on public roads.

it'd be nice if driver training / track days were part of the purchase price of toyota camrys....

Don't you mean GMH oh hang on its the same thing!!

On another note, I am booked into a driver training course at Mt Cotton for my Birthday in a couple of months and never having done one before am quite looking forward to it. Even if I learn a couple of things to be a better and safer driver it will be worth it, I must have picked up a pile of bad habits in my 20+ years of driving.
