I just recently replaced my RCD310 for a RCD510, process is as follows......
carefully pry apart trim, best to use a trim removal tool......(a flat head screw driver will suffice but be careful)......
Underneath the plastic trim are small clips, take care........Start from top left as shown, then top right and slowly pull the trim away from the dash.......

Thats the hardest part done.......
Next is to use a torx screwdriver to remove the four screws (one each corner).....


Once all four screws are removed hold unit from both sides and slowly slide out........(note that the aerial and main socket cables are curved behind the unit, it may require a little more gentle effort to remove)

When you have the unit out and are able to see the cables disconnect the aerial and main socket......

This simple upgrade cost me all up $400 off ebay inc postage.......was delivered next day
