Indeed. The factory sports back makes the car 15mm lower.

On another note. Thank you all for your input!

Same for me - 6 holes, 4 rivets (middle 2 holes empty) - and they are definitely not torx screws.

Knowing my luck I'm probably looking in teh wrong spot then!

I hate pop rivets, they belong on land rovers, not post 1970's Vdubs!

My problem is now solved as a result of a nice gravel track, the thing ripped right off. It doesn't serve any useful purpose other than to scrape on every parking bollard and speed hump anyway.

And to also lower your fuel consumption for smoother airflow under the car, to also provide your engine with the proper pressure area for the cooling thermo fans, to duct air into and around the brakes and diff....

Also to confirm, the gti shouldn't have any pop rivets, the underpanel is clipped into the front bumper, so I wasnt missing them

Are you saying they are neither rivets nor torx screws, but clips (plastic?) instead?

The front part of the underpan (with the vertical deflector, I now know which bit you're all talking about ! ) is permanently fixed to the front bumper on the gti, it comes off as one unit. Once off, it can then be removed, somehow....

I scraped the **** out of my lip doing a dodgy rushed three point turn months ago. Damaged the paint back to the metal. I'm assuming it'd be cheaper to replace the part than get it resprayed?

If you can show us, perhaps we can make suggestions.

For a star crumbs mate, that part is plastic. The black you see is probably the bare plastic underneath the paint. Cheaper to get that part colour-match resrayed so they only do that bit and blend it into the rest of the bumper, a whole new bumper not only will cost a fortune, but imagine the wait on it coming in! Unless you go aftermarket of course....

                          Crumbs,

A quality respray of that area on the bar by a mob who are specialists with doing it will fix that right up. I wouldn't replace the bar as it's readily mend-able.

Anyone recommend somewhere in Melbourne that might do it? Eastern suburbs?

My suggestion is to book the car into the service department at Burwin VW and they will assist with getting the paint repaired properly. Talk to them about getting a free hire car as well so you are not walking.

Only just getting around to this now, but is there any benefit to going to Burwin over say, Barloworld? They're much closer to me that's all.

I assume both of them are going to charge me as much.
