  • High Pitched Alarm when depressing the break pedal lightly...

    Hi guys,

long time lurker first time poster. I took delivery of my Savannah yellow TSI about a month ago now and have been loving it ever since.

I have had only 1 real issue and that is a high pitched whining alarm type sound that can be heard from somewhere in the footwell of the drivers seat when depressing the break pedal - no fully depressed but enough to keep the car from rolling back.

Has anyone else noticed this sound or am i on my own here?? It is somewhat intrusive considering the engine sound at idle is so quiet.

PS - anyone else noticed that the windscreen wiper washer has very low pressure and doesn't spray right up the windscreen? (ok so that is 2 issues now...)

Could be a vacuum leak causing the sound when pressing the brake pedal. Turn the engine off and ress the brake pedal and see it the sound is there and then slowly shuts off.

The VW windscreen washer is less of a jet amd more of a fine mist spray nozzle.

I would suggest both be checked out.

I would say that is is more of a jet as mine is, other than the headlight washers. Depends on the soap content I think...

does it happen on a slight uphill gradient?

        this happens in my driveway,

its not loud but u can hear it making whistle noise when the car computer is holding on the brakes and the dsg clutch is at friction point waiting for u to take your foot off brake pedal.......

take notice that if u hold the brake pedal just enough to hear that noise that the car should be idling higher than normal as its ready waiting for you to accelerate......

Yes! It does happen when on an incline! I will take note about the higher incline, however is this a fault or some kind of design feature?

it is a feature, its the hill hold assist.......

find a decent hill come to a complete stop take your foot off the brake.......

the car will stay stationary for a few seconds and not roll back at all then it will start creeping waiting for you to accelerate.........i find this is a great feature

from what i have read about the system it requires around a 5% gradient to activate........

Hi Gavs, agree it's probably partly soap content, but I do think the dub is more of a wide area spray, compared to previous cars with a distinct two zone jet of water,

I agree - my sprays are definitely fan-shaped, and not a single (jet-like) spray. Comes out hard enough, though - both zones reach the top of the windscreen.
