It's been 6 months and I've just clicked 8000km yesterday.
Changing my order from a TDi to a TSi and the dealer securing me one at short notice, I'd felt good about the buy. Then I had a moment of doubt when a non-VW Bluetooth was installed, but with a deep breath and some helpful suppliers and service staff all came good again.
Driving the car home brought an immediate smile to my face. The responsiveness, the nippy acceleration, the quiet refined interior, the abundance of smart design features, the RNS510, the dimming rear view mirror, the DSG.
Getting back into a rental car recently when I was out of town reminded me why the Polo remains special. The rental was new, current Korean model, but had a glarry cheap dash, with lots of tack trim. It had a feeling not of substance, but just bulk. The engine and auto box was the big eye opener. It was gutless and rough. I don't know whether it was a four or five speed auto...but it immediately brought home to me the benefits of the DSG that i had come to take for granted.
Going through a Canberra winter and having the mirrors demist, and cabin warm quickly to my favorite preset heat, listening to the radio and on occasions being directed by the friendly gps navigation voice to new-to-me locations, have just reminded me why I like my Polo so much.
8000km and apart from a cold morning dash rattle, I love the DSG Petrol Polo. Comfort Pack is brilliant. RNS510 my in car friend. Smug ?
Yes, still smug.
