  • Please help me configure my new Polo

    Hello !

I'm about to order a Polo and would love some feedback and advise on the configuration I've chosen. Has anyone got the same configuration or any advise for me if these are good choices.

    5 Door TSI Comfortline
Auto so I don't have to change gears
Sports pack so I get those nice wheels
Comfort Pack for the climate control
Audio upgrade so I can plug in my iPhone and have it charging and control it from the stereo

Aftermarket Kufatec bluetooth kit $990 installed

    Thanks,
    Byron

Sounds like you have pretty much ticked everybox on the options list; so you can't go to wrong.

One question, the aftermarket bluetooth kit is more expensive than the dealer fitted Volkswagen item; so why don't you just stick with the factory option?

As for using the iPhone off the factory MDI fitted to the RCD510, it goes in the glove box which may be inconvenient if you are taking your iPhone in and out all the time; potentially buy yourself another iPod and stick that in there permanently [I realise this won't solve you iPhone charging issue, but it is way more convenient].

Only issue is that the iPhone then leaks RF noise into the stereo ...

The standard bluetooth doesn't fully integrate with the RCD510, the Fiscon Kufatec Bluetooth enables you to access phonebook and other features through your RCD510 whereas the standard bluetooth only allows you to answer your phone through the phone button on the steering wheel.
I was quote $690 for standard and $790 for Kufatec through my dealer so it made the choice easy.

I thought DSG came standard with the auto . The sales guy didn't mention that to me . Is there somewhere I can get a complete option price list.

Gee don't like the idea of RF noise leaking . Is there a better solution for integrating an iPhone for making calls ?

                DSG is the standard auto.

Must say I haven't had any RF noise; I have an iPod Classic connected to the MDI in the glovebox; and an iPhone 3GS linked through the bluetooth. I have the upgraded RCD510 and the dealer fitted bluetooth module working through the comfort pack steering wheel controls.

William , is your iPhone in the glove box too & does it charge it as well ? Did you get the standard blue tooth option ?

Question 1) No, the iPhone is usually in my pocket or centre console; I don't plug it in. Question 2) Yes, I got the standard dealer fitted bluetooth.

Not sure if it standard for all dealers, but by getting the bluetooth installed at the sametime as the purchase of the car it was included in my three year warranty period; and will be included in the extended warranty period if I purchase that a a later date.

Ok, my mistake. Saw one Polo with an fugly gear T-style gear knob for the auto.
