  • Advice on after market front lights

Okay now I've got the inside all sorted, I thought I'd whiten up my night time driving.

Anyone experienced in changing over their polo lights?

Not sure what to go for...after market Xenons seem reasonable on eBay...not from riceland, but the motherland...

    Advice please...

I would try some uprated headlight bulbs first.

There's been fair bit of discussion re this. Be careful with after market Xenons. As I understand it if they're not self leveling they're not legal.

You can get xenon gas filled halogen lights which are a bit better than normal halogens but you cannot legally fit hid globes into standard lights and please don't regardless, it is a nuisance, distracting and downright dangerous for other drivers. Try driving around some of the northern suburbs of Melbourne on a Friday night and all the commodores running eBay hid lights. You need sunglasses when they come up behind you.

Yes I recall what Frostee says about the legality stuff. Okay what's a good pair of white lights to go for...

I use osram bulbs in mine.

What is the rating on your current bulbs? (wattage etc)

Used to have Osram nightbreakers, good around town, not so crash-hot on un-lit country roads. Take a look at IPF xenon-filled bulbs or equivalent in philips / osram....

I use Osramy Rallye as they are stronger than the nightbreaker's.
Works a treat for my use so far both urban and country.
They are a little more wattage though so make sure your bulbs are similar wattage.
also bear in mind this is for hte tiguan not the polo.

Philips and Osram both make +50% and +80% bulbs. Steer clear of any that promise a extra white or "HID-like" light. The bluer the lightsource the WORSE it is for visibility.

These brighter bulbs have a shorter lifespan than a regular bulb..

                    Okay - those Philips read well. Is the 77kw car fitment - H4 12V 60/55W P43T ?
And if I replace them will I get a fault code on the display ?

Don't you have H7 for the main beam?

Beats paying $750 per light from Volkswagen.... if i was after these lights logic would suggest $850 for a pair beats $750 each headlight.
