  • Polo settings programmable by dealer

Hello guys, I havent been able to find a single thread that really lists whats available to be changed by the dealer pre-delivery. I thought for people waiting for cars this might be food for thought and they can arrange for it to be done pre-delivery. So from other threads I have read and remember here is a brief list. People please add to this etc, so that it gets more comprehensive. I will edit and combine other people's posts into this first one so its easy to see straight away.

    > Remote locking setting, unlock button once, driver's side unlocks. unlock button again all doors unlock.

    > Hold down on unlock button to open windows remotely, and vice versa to close windows.

    > Automatic locking at 15 km/hr

    > Dash illumination settings, only dials on until lights switched on, or full illumination all the time.

    > 1 alarm beep when locking car
    2 beeps on unlocking

    > auto unlock when opening door from inside or when key is removed

    > L/100KM to KM/L

Some people may not know that some of these functions can be programmed on or off. This list will come in handy, for example people who don't like the auto locking at 15km but didn't know it's a programmable feature.

VAGCOM, now known by VCDS (Vag-Com Diagnostics System) is not a Volkswagen product. The dealers do not use it. Therefore, this thread seems a bit strange. The dealer cannot program any "VAGCOM" setting since they don't have that tool.

Having said that, there are some settings of the cars which can be programmed by the dealers, and may also be able to be programmed by VCDS... but they're separate topics....

oh sorry corey I was unaware of this (first time VWer to be) i just see people talk about programming VAGCOM or VCDS in forums. If you could be so kind as to rename the topic to, settings which can be programmed by dealers pre delivery? maybe that would cause less confusion.

I think a list would still be handy for people who want to turn on or off certain features pre delivery .

          cheers

Yep. VCDS can be purchased by any consumer and there are lots of things that can be programmed in there! We've got a thread in the MK6 Golf forum which lists VCDS stuff, and there are other threads around the forums with contacts of forum members with the cables around the country. But it's also good to have a list of things which the dealer can change for you guys (since the Polo doesn't have as many of the options in the MFI/MFD). Thread renamed.

It seems like everyone has different setups on their cars?
It would of been easier if VW just had a stock setup with all the extra's standard and if people want then they can request it be turned off.

Yeah thats what I meant. I assumed not all of the things in the other car model sub forums applied to the Polo so should have our own list.

VCDS was able to do the following in my Polo:
1 alarm beep when locking car
                  2 beeps on unlocking
                  selective door locking
                  auto lock at 15 km/h
auto unlock when opening door from inside or when key is removed

This can be changed via the mfd setup menu on the gti, not sure about others though...

Wish we could turn daytime driving lights OFF.

The alarm beep for the lock/unlock would be nice.

Not having a dig, but still don't understand why people want to turn them off when it prevent flogs from running into you by clearly having a huge safety benefit (study unertaken in the US is why so many manufacturers are now doing it).

Aside from that, you can't see them anyway when you're driving the car....

Just like to know people's reasoning behind why they would like them not to function....

I remember reading a recent report that actually came to the conclusion that in conditions similar to Australia that DRL have little effect for cars.

Manufacturers in the USA fit them because Canada DEMANDS all cars are fitted with DRLS.

This is from a US government report

The analysis found that DRLs have no statistically significant overall effects on the three target crashes. When combining
these three target crashes into one target crash, the DRL effects were also not statistically significant. When examined
separately for passenger cars and light trucks/vans (LTVs), DRLs in LTVs significantly reduced LTVs’ involvements in the
target two-vehicle crashes by 5.7 percent. However, the remaining DRL effects on these three target crashes were not
statistically significant. Although not statistically significant, DRLs might have unintended consequences for pedestrians and
motorcyclists. Particularly, the estimated negative effects for LTVs were relatively large and cannot be completely ignored

                              Hi all,

If I remember correctly, I read recently that the Australian Government was going to make DRL mandatory on all new cars shortly. I believe it may already be mandatory in some European countries
