  • centre armrest polo tsi

I have had my new polo 77 tsi for a week now, great car except for a few annoying things.
For the centre armrest is useless & just gets in the way.
Does anyone know how to remove it ?
I will post my other gripes & likes in another thread
    Cheers all

Yeah, it's a love hate relationship for me, love the comfort of the armrest but hate the fact that you have to raise it to lock the seat belts

Both of you are useless then
I find it VERY easy to clip and unclip the seat belt with the armrest down. You just have to figure out how to do it, not that difficult. Same with the handbrake, just use your fingers to pull and release the handbrake

I love it when sitting in traffic / relaxed driving................ but its annoying when i want to use manual mode on the dsg................it also makes it hard to go from "S" to "D" without going straight into "N"

Yep I'm afraid I tend to agree. If you need to raise the rest to clip that belt in then you really aren't trying hard enough.

I find it convenient as I drive with my right hand on the wheel and the left on the armrest.

Useless? That's a bit much. I've got spirit fingers.....sorry, stubby fingers, why should I suffer because of a design flaw? Yes, I can handle the handbrake lever, its just the seat belt locking that's the problem. Glad to know that there are gymnast and contortionists driving cars. And before you go on and on...it is a design flaw..just accept it, and I am not going to have lypo suction on my fingers . I have owned many cars with arm rests without this unique feature...Still a great car though

Pah, you're all sooks and as a designer, I don't think it's a design flaw and it's far better than the first Mk4 golf armrest which the handbrake actually hits but still, in my mind, who cares?! Sure, it could have been done better but that's why industrial designers don't like accountants

Trust me, once you remove it, you are going to wish you have it the first time you're stuck in traffic or have a long, boring drive.... Trust me

My inference wasn't directed at you being useless, I was merely in agreeance with the premise that it wasn't such a difficult thing.

Amazing! I have 2 friends around your height who felt obliged to opt out of the polo because of their size and the driving position.

I agree with you otherwise... no issues with clicking in the belt. A little annoying re the handbrake. My previous car had no centre armrest, so this feels luxurious!

Wow, its getting a bit bitchy in here!! Personally I quite enjoy using the armrest while driving my (manual) polo.. The seatbelt is fine for me and I either bend my arm under (however the handbrake comes slightly to the right when doing this) or over and around the armrest to use the handbrake.. Even if those actions are uncomfortable for some, it only takes a very small amount of time to lift the armrest in comparison to the amount of time spent driving.. I know I always tend to take the long way everywhere now!
