In "S", the DSG will hold back changing gears until you basically slam into the rev limiter. The car is rated at (from memory here) topping out at 229kph with 6th and 7th both being over driven, 5th might be at 1:1. If I had the copy of motor where they compared around the track, the polo with clio and ciroen DS3, I could check what the in-gear speeds were.
Another thing is the FPV still runs a torque converter auto, so in regards to "tiptronic", I know when flicked over, it will hold gears but it's a different beast. So it's like comparing apples with pears, still from a similar family, but completely different too. I'm planning on heading to winton I think in november, will be interesting to see what the car is like on the track in regards to top speeds etc...
On my test drive, I remember hitting 150kph with ease in fourth in manual mode so without phisucally trying it in mine (for obvious reasons....) I can't tell you what the speed is at the rev limiter in fourth....
