Limited, problem is all the noise insulation covering it and when you do hear it, it has to be at low speed with objects around you to reflect it back when you have the windows open!

I've been hanging out to remove the noise insulation on mine but it's just too tight to get in there and do it, the Golf 118TSI has more room between the firewall and blower so it's easier to get to.

VW sould have put a proper supercharger on the GTI, one of those that sticks through the bonnet with the letter G T I on each of the "butterfly flaps"
They should have just been more logical in making it operate and perhaps taken a leaf out of toyota's book (oh nein, ve are ze superiour, arian race, ve do not take attention to ze japanese automobile makers, zey are not as clever as us!) in regards to magnetic clutches, I had one on the thermo fan in my Toyota surf and when I had it, who knows how many kms had been wound off the clock but it still worked without a hiccup with no squeaks or noises from 1989 to the day I sold it 3.5 years ago.

Or even better, leave the supercharger permanently coupled to the engine, just create a bypass, oh wait, they already have that! All this crap about fuel efficiency, I bought a GTI for crissake, do they really think I care about fuel efficiency with a supercharger blowing compressed air at 1800rpm?! Why does it need to disengage then re-engage all the time, just leave it engaged please!
