  • Thinking about changing some options on my order. Suggestions?

    Hi all,

I'm new here, and at the moment the GTI I have on order only has Pearl Black, tints and bi-xenon as options.

Contacted the dealer and as the order hasn't been processed yet, I was thinking if I wanted to add some options its probably not too late.

What are you guys thoughts on the Audio, Comfort and Security packs?

Is the RCD-510 worth the upgrade? I'm fine with 1 CD as long as it plays MP3s, what other bonus functions does it come with.

Does the comfort pack actually make the ride more comfortable? Thoughts?

Any thoughts on getting the alarm option? Or going aftermarket at some point? does getting aftermarket alarm void warranties? Thoughts please...

    Thanks,
    Michael

Ok, for a start, the comfort pack has nothing to do with the ride, it adds auto headlights and wipers, tyre pressure monitoring and a self dimming rear view mirror. The RCD 510 touch screen which is in the audio pack I think is worth it, even just for the resale value of the car, it really finishes and polishes it all off. Is it worth the price? I don't think so.

Gavs, GP you know if the xenons self dim (when using high beams) when oncoming traffic appears? Like BMWs?

Just don't learn the hard way that I did, that changing the options to your order will put you to the back of the queue. So if you want to make changes, do it ASAP. If you ordered in January, I'd probably leave it as is; changing might add months to your wait.

Lol, was a bit tongue in cheek sarcasm about "making the ride comfortable". I thought tyre pressure indicator was standard on GTIs anyway?

I'm looking at the polo_my2011_specs pdf file from VW au. Tyre pressure monitor IS listed in comfort pack, but its also listed as standard for GTIs...

I can recommend the comfort pack - awesome set of features..love set and forget climate thingy, and those rain sensing wipers work wonderfully. I love the safety of having the tyre pressure sensors fitted, and the self dimming mirror pays for itself every evening some big truck or misaligned pair of car headlights are behind the VW. No more strained eyes.

The RNS510 is nice, but actually could have a better user interface and smarter feature set. Overpriced ? Yes. Would I still buy it again ? Yes.

Can anyone confirm whether Tyre Pressure Indicators come on the GTI regardless of whether the comfort pack is ordered??? Seem to be getting some conflicting information.

                Cheers all

Comfort pack on GTI is full climate control, dimming mirror and auto wipers. No auto headlights.
The GTIs i saw without the comfort pack had semi-auto air con

All GTIs have the tyre pressure monitor.

The audio upgrade is $700 roughly. No improvement in power output or speakers. 6 cd stacker = redundant.
The touch screen is nice as is the MDI if you need it.

I was offered an audio upgrade for nothing at the dealers. They always have a few RCD510s laying around from SAt Nav upgrades etc.

Alarm = waste of money (in my opinion).

By the way: All this info is on the VW site http://www.volkswagen.com.au/content...chure_2011.pdf

The brochure (which I keep on looking at and torturing myself with while I wait for my car) has a G in a box next to the low tyre pressure indicator which means it's standard in the GTI.

How about a panoramic sunroof? For me, I just had to have one.

Yes, the tyre pressure indicators are standard on GTI. Comfort pack is therefore cheaper on GTI, as one would expect..

Wonder how much the Satellite Navigation RNS510 costs and if the price varies dealer to dealer.

I also wonder if it's really worth getting an inbuilt Sat Nav (dealer fit) over a standalone GPS unit (aftermarket) when the the inbuilt Sat Nav costs so much more. Thoughts?
