  • DSG lever

Passat driver looking at new / near new Polo 66TDI DSG for wife. Have noticed that some new ones have Passat/Jetta/Golf type DSG lever (broad handle with release button on the side) while others have the Tiguan type lever (narrow with release button at the front) as per the brochure.

Dealer hadn't noticed and could offer no explanation.

Anyone know why the difference or is it just a case of which one the supply system delivers to the production line?

    Thanks.

I am not an authority; but I believe the change happened a few months ago so that all new production gets the Tiguan lever. In the brochure [Page 12], which was updated when the GTI was released, it looks like a four year old with basic photoshop skills has placed an image of the slim line unit over the original wider unit; I believe the change occured then so late November / December?

Picked my Polo 77TSI up mid December and was built early mid November - it has Tiguan/Golf GTI style lever.

Mine was built August '10 and it has the newer (narrow) lever design...

MY11 spec DSG polos come with the narrow lever.

That's the conundrum. All the new body shape polos are being referred to as MY11 yet both levers appear in the model. I picked up on this viewing photos of cars for sale on Carpoint. My local dealer has 2 MY 11 Polos in the yard, one has broad lever, the other the narrow. I haven't checked the build dates but dealer claims that the later date one has the broad lever.

Noticed that difference too. The my11 I have seen around do seem to have both, but the thinner one is the new king on the stick

Sorry, I believe it is refered to as my11.5, also comes with the climatic screen change to white, front seat drawers deleted and 12v socket in the boot deleted.

Not at all. Seems to me it raises valid questions around the integrity of the dealer and their answers. Either VW mix their batches and put out more than one lever, or the dealer doesn't know a My10 from a My11 - or the interim 11.5 ...

                    Let the debate continue

Integrity = lie or tell the truth.
May I suggest they are just unknowledgeable.
