General questions and advice please on Pricing/Options for a new POLO

Just a few questions, and feedback on a POLO;

A dealer/accessories person had spoken to my sister and offered a whole host of things for the POLO she bought. (My sister, after my advice, didnt take the "front windows only" tinting for $350 as i felt we could use a tinting person who comes out to you, and does the whole car for around $250!)

But my sister did take the parking sensors! Just a a couple of things; they are just the rear sensors, and they were offered for $700+ dollars. My sis ended up haggling and got them for $520. This was the price given to her as the best deal she could do.

When my sister gets to pick up the car, she is told she has to pay an extra $30 for stamp duty? IS this fair/right? Its only $30, but can you quote something like that, when you sell accessories for a living and quote a price that you know it wont be?

Also is $520 ($550!) good for just the rear sensors? We installed the RCD510, and there are no pictures or anything, like what comes up in my R? Any way we can change that?

Tell them to get f**ked. A contract works both ways. A price was agreed so she should have to pay anymore that was agreed and specified on the contract.

I would like to know the Dealership myself, sounds like a Scam op to me a contract is a contract what is stated is paid, all she needs to do is take the keys and cya later, if they want to void the Contract they are more then welcome to speak to the Depart of Fair Trade, i would like to see his face when he gets a call from the ombudsman rofl.

Accessories are not subject to stamp duty if they are dealer fitted..... So I'd tell the dealer to shove off.

Should of spoken to Tony Grgic at CCC he did the deal on my Polo and my brothers MK6 GTI for dirt cheap, that and extras were thrown in for free

I know but he didn't have a car to give me, and my sister couldn't wait an extra 2/3 months for a car.. She's normal.

It's not the Polo, it's the dealer. Thing that still cracks me is how you can try sell someone car matts for nearly double the retail price, after they just bought a car from you? I've already mentioned how she got told her RCD510 won't work in her car after she bought it. (which it does, it's in there right now).

And charge stamp duty on things which apparently don't require it. Even after they had an agreed price.

So I have mixed feelings, and obviously expect more out of buying a car. Lack of product knowledge sort of kills it too.

The best thing is he just kept going on about getting a really good review on the survey, apparently.

I checked my contract after reading your post. I have car mats (black) for $180 - these are carpet though and I believe rubber are slightly more expensive but I'm sure not that much more.

Also, I got the parking sensors too. They cost $750 plus $200 install fee. I know - I've already been informed I got shafted. I pick up my pog in a week so will be able to tell you what unit I'm getting (being a girl I did not think to ask, just wanted to get them!). I was given quote from another dealer, for approx $600 no install fee - but that is from memory. I can only hope I get some whiz-bang parking sensors that integrate with my RCD510! It looks like the type of sensors vary from dealer to dealer, and the fee for install (but I'm just guessing). I got the corporate discount so not smarting quite so much over the high cost of sensors.

I too agree she should not have been asked to pay an additional fee above her contract - it seems odd (but I'm no lawyer). Each time I've changed my order (2 times) a new contract has been issued, signed and returned.

Hey good reading your post about the cost of the matts. So it seems true my sis was given the shaft for these.

I only just found out here that there are different sensors too! My sisters kind are 4 of those little button tabs on the rear bumper. No front sensors included.

I wonder if they can integrate those type of sensors with the RCD-510 we have. (and you have!)

Hey CM10 are you getting the front and back ones done?

Sensors are back only. There was no option for both. I suspect mine are the four buttons too. Hoping that the install cost means some fancy wiring to the RCD-5010 but will let you know when I do!
