What have you done with your Polo so far (and today)
Hi Readerr0r,
I am keen to have a rear (bootlid) camera installed as well as the Shark fin connected to the RNS 510.
Do you have any more pictures of the fakra cable routing through the car - Is it better to route it via the RHS Roof lining and then down the A Pillar and through to the dash?
Also, would be really great if you could advise instructions on how to do the RVC and which bracket you used to ensure the RVC is centred and aligned as I understand that without a bracket, the std RVC is skew when installed.
Can you also advise (or pictures) on where you installed the 5 channel harman kardon amp?
Many thanks
Hey Sinair,
I ran the fakra through the channels under the doors on the left. You pop off the plastic trim with trim tools between the hatch lid and the roof lining and then gently pull down you be able to just peek at the plastic holder for the three FAKRAs, you may need a mirror and some blind finger fiddling to plug it in though. Then you run it down the left C pillar and under the trim at the bottom of the doors. Then run it behind the glovebox (undo the 5 or so screws and it'll pop off) then to the RNS510.
The RVC requires an adapter, theres a very detailed tutorial thread on that in this forum a few pages back but i def recommend doing it FAKRA and the RVC together since its almost the same run. I not sure if the original guy still sells the adapter but audiupgrades.com.au bought a bunch and sell them as well.
As for the 5CH amp, it was just a normal 5 channel car amp which HK made for a while but any good 5ch will do. The way I did it was quite complex (so complex that even my friend who did it with me got confused when he did it with his golf later) and hard to explain. But basically with VCDS you can make the RNS's speaker outputs act as very high quality RCA outputs. You then put RCAs on the end and then run it to your amp and then amp to speakers. Amp install is super easy in the GTI since the battery is in the boot.
Let us know how you go I'd be in for one. May be able to combine shipping.
I'll do my best mate, hopefully they're not muppets...fingers crossed and most likely would be more viable to do a combined shipment and split them up upon arrival in Sydney.

Don't want those little wings though. Won't be putting them on.

The wings are seperate the only thing on that link for sale is a full CF twill front splitter...I'll tell you this...from the look of that thickness...its worth the price...looks to be properly vacuum baked as well.

I think unless you buy matching side skirts and rear apron/diffuser...having just that lip only will make the car look incomplete due to the nature of its rather large size and 'thickness' as you put it. Profile wise...it just will not flow from front to tail.

It doesn't have to. My liberty GT-B had a STI front lip by itself and that looked fine. Was the one thing missing from the front of the car. Same with the polo. It's just missing something up front. It has the black runners already. Full Side skirts will make it look to tall in the body. If you go side skirts and a rear skirts it will be to ricey. Same if it was just little strakes. It is a little on the thick side and I'd like something a Bit thinner but hers not much out there. On a polo without the wings and carbon bonnet it will set the front off. The Reiger rear diffuser is nice but pokes out a little bit to far of my tastes. But I like the style.

I already have the ABT CF rear diffuser so I think the front is what will complete it...if not I'll just purchase the GTI side sills
Those fog light covers...hmmm...sexy with a bit of work I could fit the foggies snug into them
All that carbon is nice, but that bumper lip is way too wide and 'fat' for my taste.. my current lip is a little more narrow and descrete
I also found those fog light covers but the little edge under the centre lower grill will remain plastic so it will still look like a half finished job
Once carbon hoods become more affordable I will get one though!
Hail, I've already spoken to the factory that produce these, they are a pretty poor knock-off of the maxton design front lip we looked at a while back.
The carbon is only the very outer layer, the rest is just filled with a layer of (from what I could gather) chopper-gunned fibreglass and bulk filler.
Also, I wouldn't be going with that distrubuter if their price is that high! I can get it far cheaper than that!

Would you be willing to be the middle man and we can negotiate a handlers fee for you? PM me if you can help / interested.
I have just shot an email to Garbino Japan about the GTI front lip, going to attack the $374 option spoiler as I have paint already and the booth to do my own prep / painting...but failing that I would love to have that aggressive one that you mentioned Gavs.
Also working on doing some CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) on this front lip and splitter...if those fins can force feed high pressure without creating negative vortices then I may get them...as it would add around 50kg of down-force per corner...however it may increase the pressure on the front tyres hence higher degradation (guesstimate).
Example with the Porsche (obviously completely different cars from top to bottom but its the only thing I can physically refer to):
What have you done with your Polo so far (and today)
Woah man! Canards though should not be used for downforce as they induce far too much drag. The main purpose of them is to get exactly the right vortex being generated down/off the side of the car, reason why I hate stuck-on canards on road cars

Glad my fins / canards are Porsche "works" parts bit of Mcguyver work should aid me in installing them on my car *sarcasm* so far without surprise its not worth using fins, wings, canards or louvres on the Polo / hatchbacks period...just did an initial run and around 60kg of drag is created from the rear boot lid at 100 km/h...my my hatch backs... (Known since the day of the dodo that hatch backs would never be a viable sports / performance car due to that massive rear void...known as the hatch!!!)
