Cost for engine? Free! (8,256 Kms on the odo the wreckers were going to scrap it as no one was interested so I assisted by taking everything the car had with regards to the engine, ECU unit, Tranny and Drivetrain)

Why was the car at the wreckers? (set off the airbag unit front left damage) didn't look all that bad i guess when the bags go off though thats it...

however they did charge for Trans, drive and cables/ecu unit.

Price: $2,950 cash

My main issue is the fuel tank, intergration of the ECU with current electronics.

I think you are the VW version of 'Zack' on the DS3 forums who is trying to put a twin-turbo V6 diesel into the Citroen DS3 (it did have a normal turbo i4 diesel beforehand).

As my car hasnt arrived yet I only idly check this thread about once a week and think, 'ohhh, I could do that...' For once Im a bit speachless... loving your work m8! Cant wait to see how this transplant goes, should be a rocket

Just so you all know nothing will be happening with the car until the 3 year warranty expires.

This car will be a part of my permanent collection.

So its a few years off til full completion, which i feel is wise as it gives me time to carefully and properly have this done without future problems (Rattling, need to research suspensions, new brake setup etc).

So plenty of time before a video, tutorial or build page will show its ugly head just getting components now while they're fresh and in my opinion at a great price!

Forged pistons, titanium piston rings (creepy right?).

No turbo, N/A is good thus far the R32 has a natural tone that makes most people qwiver xD

going for the Rally car finish (full interior removal, roll cage, two Sparco seats).

I want the car to be...different in the least

Eeek..! sounds like a great project. I was very tempted to buy a Metro 6R4 back in the day when Austin Rover sold them off after GroupB died its death, they were very cheap for what they were... Looking forward to this build, it deserves/needs a thread of its own i think
