Gav's car had the old black on blue display (I think) The new ones are much easier to read.

Yeah I've seen it on eBay for $80 but that was for black on blue. I wouldn't even go near one a if it was anymore.

Mum and dad's main complaint with the Polo is the brightness of the blue backlight at night. It's much brighter than the RCD 510 (with the brightness on dark) and it interferes with your eyes night-vision.

They can both be adjusted up or down separately. The AC head unit is controled by the instrument brightness control (next to the headlight switch and the radio is controled by the settings. Also the radio has an ambient light sensor which auto dims the display for dark conditions.

Ha. Well I knew about the ambient light sensor because when you open a door at night (interior lights turn on) then close it (lights off) the screen take a couple of seconds to dim again.
But the AC unit on my polo doesn't adjust it's brightness with the instrument brightness adjustment. Does the black on blue climatronic backlight adjust with the instrument brightness adjustment normally? Maybe it's faulty on mine... not that it would surprise me

I got my resonator delete done today and my god does it make a lovely difference.

I really don't understand why VW don't have the exhaust tuned like this from the get - go. From memory the resonator is only there to take rasp out of NA engines??
Do they do anything for emissions?

Nope nothing for emissions, its just there to take out the small amount of backfiring. It's just a straight through hot dog so don't expect any gains or anything different except the epic sound!!!

Not true, aside from the outlets, the centre muffler and rear muffler on the GTI are the same construction.

What I did? I got out the bottle of 303 aerospace and did the interior. What someone else did? Noticed a nice scuff and chip on the detail line on the passenger side door where some springvale ar*ehole has opened their door with quite some force into my car. Twice in a month someone has done this sh*t to my car!!

Happy f*cking birthday, such a great gift.

Haha I win! I can beat that Gavs I've still got the nice HOLE on the passenger side door of my car where some CU*T hit it (yep it's a nice crater about 3x3cm and a nice 5cm crese down the middle) . Guess the driver decided "what the hell, the car is on a slant sideways screw it i'll let the door go".

I enquired about the cost to repair it and becuase it has caused structural damage to the door frame I need a whole new door (it cannot be sucked or punched out). I can tell you I'm still pissed...12 months on from when the got the car and it happened a few weeks in...
