  • General Maintenance Advice

    Hi guys/girls

I have just bought my first car (Polo GTI )

    A couple of questions.

    1) Just after a few car care products that people recommend? Waxes, Soaps, cloths etc

    2) I've heard Zaino CS (Z-CS Clear Seal: Zaino Store) is excellent for protecting the exterior against damage. Thoughts? Anyone used it?

I'm sure this topic has been done to death, but I couldn't find anything.

Just point me to the right direction if you know the right threads.

    Thanks again.

Tyre pressures, check them once a fortnight and keep an eye on them to see if they are wearing evenly. 5 minutes a fortnight will save you $$$$$ in the long run. Tyre placard is on the inside of the fuel flap for correct pressures.

Used this product for many years Car Care Products / Optimum / Exterior / Wax - Spray / Spray Car Wax

Got a few stubborn bird poo droppings, got a moist microfiber cloth and it just came straight off no rubbing or repeated cleaning.

Really good water beading for up to 5 weeks (this depends if you park outdoors or indoors)

Welcome to Meguiar's Australia, the Leader in Car Car products

used this on many cars, low in suds but gets the job done with less than a capful used each wash.

Also, if ur not experienced in car detailing, then u might want to get a professional detail once a year. Most charge about $300 but it's worth it imo as I don't have a whole day or 2 to do it myself

totally agree most of the good detailers can get rid of paint swirl marks as they're minor scratching which can be slowly treated out.

If your referring to the type pressure monitor, no. Only with sport pack or comfort pack.

Speaking of sport pack, took the car for a Drive for the hopefully up and coming in the New Year the Polo 6R cruise through Akuna Bay (part of the National parks) TSI owners with the sport pack may find it hard not to give your car some beans as i found out my car stuck to the ground like a bat out of hell.

GTI owners will most likely feel the same thrill.

TPM - I have had to reset mine twice as the left side got slightly lower than the right (bumps, potholes etc).

Isn't the TPM based on the ride height/balance of the vehicle not air pressure in the Tyre?

No, it senses difference in pressure between tyres, so if all 4 tyres are going down at the same rate, it won't tell you.

For the Polo? Uses abs sensors to detect differences in wheel rotation I believe, no sensors in or on wheels.

Exactly right... its really for single tyre deflations.

I guess that;s why they made forums rather then leaving it to some of those Half Brain dead Sales people

Thank you for clarifying that for me
